im a newbie - self awakening or lucidity?

hey i understand what lucid dreaming as about and all that but what i dont really understand is how you can do reality checks and become conceous or "lucid" in a dream when your just watching it. i mean like how can you make yourself do stuff to become lucid when your not really your self your just watching your self? i hope you get me because i understand what to do etc... but i dont really understand how i can have any control whatsoever on my sleeping self. i hope im not rambling on about nothing. any advice?

If you are just watching the dream I don't think the usual techniques of reality checking would be possible to actually do. I think becoming lucid from within a non-lucid dream would be very difficult unless you are 'in' the dream, actually walking around and doing stuff. If those types of dreams are uncommon to you then you'd probably get better results trying W.I.L.D techniques. Good luck with whatever methods you do try

thanks alot. although i totally beleive it is possible and really do wish it will happen to me. i am very skeptical as to weather i have enough patience, will power and dedication to have one. i hope i do though. it sounds totally amazing. whats it like?

It feels awesome. Well the last one I remember did. I actually haven't had a LD in about a year
