Insanely vivid, but hard to remember after waking

I believe last night I my have had my first lucid dream, albeit the lowest level possible. Or at least I think.

The dream starts out with me meeting a girl, the two of us seem to hit it off and we go to her dorm room (more like an apartment). After we go there and talk for awhile, she ends up leaving, while I'm still there. Here male roommate comes home with another guy who seems drugged out on roofies. They go into his room, without taking much notice of me. The wall between his room and living room is made out of glass and I can see inside. It becomes pretty obvious that he going to rape him. I have an internal debate on whether or not to call the police. The abruptly scene changes to someone's basement with a small creek running through it and were testing for minerals. Then I awake.

The dream itself was completely vivid. Just before the scene change is when I realized I was dreaming. I could feel my sleeping body ( I was laying on my right side). I wanted to wake up and record it very badly since everything was so clear in the dream, but I decided to stay and watch things. When I realized I was dreaming, my view switch to 3rd person and I was only able to monitor my dreamself, but I could still feel the senses and hear my thoughts. At the same time I could feel my sleeping body. The moment I woke up, I lost about half the dream.

Early today, I listened to Ninja's Subliminal Lucid, maybe that had an effect. This is my first encounter with lucidity since I was a little kid (20 now). Am I on my way? Any tips, or comments?

I think you're own your way.
      It just takes effort.
That is weird that you forgot half of the dream when you woke up.
Usually the time when you wake up from your dream is the time you remember the most from your dream.
