Was this a real LD. Yes another one

I know this may look long and may seem daunting, but please read it out and give me your opinion on what you think. My main problem is that the dream rings so true of being a lucid dream. Did my RCs and all, but yet it also feels as if it was not a real LD and I was just dreaming that I had a LD. You can skip to the bottom and just answer my questions, but I feel its best you read the dream story before answering so you are fully aware of what happened in my dream.

Some Info before the dream story

Notice I did not say was it my first, because I have had a few dreams before I learned about lucid dreaming where I knew they were dreams while I was dreaming. However that this one almost feels like I was dreaming about having a lucid dream, and did not really have one. I am 90% sure it was a lucid dream, but I am posting here to see what all of your opinions are.

I roughly went to sleep about 2 hours ago. I have a really screwed up sleeping scheduled, I was staying up all night and sleeping all day. But because I head back to college next week I am trying to change my sleeping cycle so I sleep all night and I am awake all day and it takes me awhile to force myself to sleep so I try to go to sleep around 7pm and end up tossing and turning until 9pm when I finally go to sleep. However I guess this time I actually went to sleep before 9pm.

So this is in short is what happened. There is a lot more detail as to like how the world looked, what I felt, but over all I am going to leave out how vivid it was and just concentrate on what actually happened. Mind you I have just woken up and I am still tired but I want to get this down before it all leaves my mind, so please forgive my spelling.

      The Dream

I do not remember anything about the dream before I became lucid. I just remember saying to myself, "This is stupid, I must be dreaming." Then I get this feeling in my gut, almost of excitement so I stop and do my RCs. First I put my fingers through my palm. Okay maybe I am just imagining that, so pinch my nose and try to breath through it and sure enough I am breathing! So I decide to do one last RC of checking my clock. However as I sit there I notice it is pitch black, and I remember some people saying how they have to wait for the dream to form, and I wait a bit and then say to myself "Well maybe your eyes are closed, try opening them first then you can wait some more."

So slowly I open my eyes and notice I am in bed, but the first thought that races to my mind is "false awakening" So I get out of bed and look at my alarm clock, at this point I still feel drowsy so I am blinking trying to clear my eyes and as I do so the clock starts changing. First it said 8:00 then 8:15 then 9:00 then it started saying stuff like, Monday, Tuesday, maple syrup. So at point in time I realize that I am in deed dreaming and I get really excited, maybe too excited because everything starts fading to black. So I say to myself, "Alright stay calm. What was I suppose to do if this happened? Oh yes rub your palms together."

So I start rubbing my palms together, and the color starts to come back and this time I notice I am not in my room but instead in a fantasy like world which is where I was going to attempt to go as soon as I got my dream stable. I am looking around admiring the place and I decide I am going to fly so I just jump into the air and take off.

Then I notice that people are tossing spears and shooting arrows at me so I fly farther away. As I fly farther away I notice the world isn't exactly a world, but more like a building, like a 100 floor building, and each section of the floor is a piece of the world, and each one is its own theme. Like a swamp section, ocean, forest and so on. I also notice a lot of interior rooms and I fly towards a library room.

(note the above paragraph is one of the reasons I doubt if it was a real lucid dream, I will go into more detail at the end of why I quest its realness but if the world you see is projected of what you expect it to be why did my world turn out like a video game where you had different levels of the "game" world and you had exterior and interior cells? My idea of a world is a large round place, not what I saw.)

So I land inside of the library and decide I need a weapon and I look down and I see a sword laying on the floor. (Wow how amazingly simple when many people talk about how hard it is to get what you want and how it takes time, now that I look at it the flying was rather easy too no work at all.) So I pick it up and take it out of its sheath and decide it is to small and I use my hand and just start stretching it out like it was made of puddy till I shaped to the point that I liked how it looked. Then I put it back into its sheath and I kept telling myself that this is really cool and as soon as I wake up I am going to get on the DV forums (and here I am) and tell you guys about this dream. I notice this really beautiful woman in the library and so I go up and I talk to her for a bit, though I remember nothing of what we talked about. After we talk I fly off and explore some more before I head back to the library to talk to this woman again. Expect she is gone now so I looked around trying to find her.

Whilst doing this I notice a door in the back of the room and decided I needed a dream guide, as I have seen some people talk about having one. I thought what better dream guide then Jessica Alba dressed up in some fantasy armor. So I walk towards the door and concentrate on her being on the other side, but when I open it she is not there. So I decide when I turn around she will be standing behind me. So I put my effort into this and I turn around and instead of Jessica Alba I see my dog.

So I figure alright well at least something is there, now I just need to altar my dog into Jessica. So I start saying stuff like, "Change into a person." And slowly bit by bit my dog starts morphing into Jessica Alba and when I am about done, I wake up.

Why do I Question if it was a Real Lucid Dream?

Well when I have dreams they are always, always in a third person aspect. ( I guess that should be a huge dream sign I should always look for) But this time the dream was in first person.

However I get an odd feeling that I did not fully have control over the dream. Like the sword appeared out of no where and I formed it easily, but then when I wanted Jessica Alba to show up I have a tough time. The dream also doesn't feel like it was all that vivid, maybe it is just because I still need to practice my dream recall. Also if this was a lucid dream it happened during my first sleep cycle, is that possible?

I wonder if maybe it was a real lucid dream, and that I just got so caught up into it that I lost my lucidity, however I do notice that a lot of times through out the dream I keep talking about how I have to get onto DV and tell them (you) about this dream so that right there would tell me that I was aware the whole time that it was indeed a dream.

I don't know. The dream felt like it was just a normal dream, yet it also seems like it was lucid. So let me simplify my questions for you to better answer.

      Questions

      1. Does this sound like a real lucid dream?
      2. Could I just have dreamnt that I was having a LD?
      3. Does it sound like I stayed self aware through the dream?
      4. Does it sound like I might of lost my lucidity?
      5. Or does it sound like I need to keep practicing my recall?
      6. If I did indeed fall asleep around 7:30 and I woke up at 10pm is that really enough of a time to even have a LD?

Dude, you did EVERYTHING perfectly. This is one of the best LDs I've read in a while, and it's so simple. Simple, yet amazing.

      Answer time!

      1) Absolutely.

2)You can do that, but this was nothing of the sort.

      3) I applaud your awareness! It's amazing to me how aware you really were. I need that kind of awareness.

      4) You never lost it.

      5) That depends on how your recall is right now. To me, it's always nice to keep up recall. Just in case.

      6) Yes. REM cycles happen in 90 minute intervals. If my math is correct, 7:30 to 10:00 is indeed more than 90 minutes.

Hehe, well I had planned to the moment I got Jessica Alba formed, that the both of us would go explore my fantasy world. I was hoping to find a dragon that I could ride.

<3 dragons, they are the best.

Oh and happy new years! I will head back to bed in 30mins.

Haha that was exactly the same reaction i had (my thread). Anyway I'm not experienced enough to judge any of this but it sounds to me like a textbook LD. Also i didn't have full control either, some guy posted that this isn't required to become lucid.

Ah, the this sounds like something that a lot of first timers will think when they have one lol. Well maybe as we advance more into this skill and develop a better recall we will be able to remember them more vividly to the point that we will know we had full control Once I get over my cold I am going to start trying WILDs. I almost had one going the other day even with my cold, but when I got to the part where SP starts to sets in, my throat got all itchy and I just started coughing like a mad man Till then WBTB and DILD it is.

Thank you for your reply too, it is great to hear from another person who had the same reaction when they had their first controlled LD. It is always great to hear the experience from people who are in the same place. Helps to know what I am not the only one who had that thought and sets aside any doubt I might of had before So even inexperienced in LD I still thank you for that post because it helps as much as an expert poster would
