Another one of those HELLO topics...

Hey everyone! I joined a few days ago actually, but didn't have time to post...
Anyways, I found this site not too long ago, and became really interested in this whole lucid dreaming thing. I've had two so far: (Not realy in detail, just generally what happened

      1. I'm at school. I put my finger through my hand, and my finger goes all the way through and comes out the back of my palm :/ Then I think, "Whoa, this is a lucid dream!" So I walk over to my friend and ask her, "Hey do you wanna fly?" We fly up in the air for a bit, but I couldn't control which direction I was going. It's like the wind was pushing me. I remember bumping into a bird that was sitting on top of a building, and I lost my lucidity after that

I had no idea how this one happened :/ I was trying to WILD late at night, but I couldn't concentrate, so I gave up. I was getting tired, and really wanted to change my position. I tried doing MILD, but I decide to leave it for another night. So I fall asleep, and have a lucid dream :]

      2. I'm standing on the side of the street. (A lot of stuff happened before, but I can't rmember all of them.) Suddenly, this thought comes to me: "Okay, stop! Do a reality check." I try the hand thing again, but it doesn't work. My finger wouldn't go through my palm - just like in real life. Then, I think: "But this can't be real life, It feels like a dream!" (When I dream, I can sort of remember how they feel. In dreams, I feel dizzy and lightheaded, but at the same time, normal. I'm not sure how to describe it, but I can tell that feelign apart from real life, sorta. (Ignore this sentence if I'm just confusing you) Immediately, I plug my nose and try to creathe through my fingers. It works, but but barely. So I take a look at my hands, and try to count my fingers. I had about 6-7 fingers on each hand. Then I realize, "Hey, I really am dreaming!" For some reason, the second I become lucid, I immediately start to fly. The next thing I know, I'm flying over a huge ocean. I dive underwater, and see a bunch of seaweed. Then, I dive underwater again. (Yes, there was water underwater in my dream) After a few seconds of this, I become bored with it. So I think, "If I close my eyes and think about being somewhere else, I could actually teleport there!" Aaaaand the second I close my eyes, I woke up :/

I have a couple of questions, though:

Is it possible to be dreaming of being lucid? Like maybe one of the above dreams weren't really lucid dreams - I was dreaming normally, and I happened to dream of doing a reality check, etc.

Next question: Are you ever able to wake yourself up from a nightmare? Whenever I have a really bad dream, riught before something bad is about to happen to me, I think to myself, "No, I'm not gonna take this!" (Kind of becoming lucid at the last second of the dream and forcing myself to wake up) And I pull myself out of the dream. When I do that, I usually wake up in partial SP. (Can't move, but I can see most of what's around me) It takes a while for me to get out of it. It's weird :/

Well, that's it! I'm looking forward to meeting you guys!

Welcome to DV Nice LDs you've got there. It is possible to dream of being Lucid... Its tricky though, you need to go by your feeling when you wake up. If you feel then you were Lucid, then you were

As for nightmares, thats how most people are first intorduced to Lucid Dreams. If you get scared, your mind realizes that it needs to get out of a dangerous situation, thus letting you know it's not real. SP happens becuase your mind woke up before your body did due to the fast reaction time. Thats normal just keep working at it and youll have even longer and more vivid LDs.

YES! Isn't that the scariest thing ever??? I always felt like I was clawing my way out of my own grave. That's exactly how I started lucidity and dream control. Next time you have a nightmare, change it instead of waking yourself up. At the moment you know it's a nightmare and you have the waking up option, tell yourself, "no, no, i'm not going to have this nightmare anymore," and think of something more pleasant. Your dream should change instantly.

But you're right, the fact that you are waking yourself up means you are lucid. It's really much more simple than a lot of these people are making it out to be.

Yeah, that kinda confuses me sometimes :/ I actually wonder whether I'm actually having the lucid dream or I'm just dreaming of it.

Yeah! That's exactly how I felt! I remember doing a search on it, and I stumbled upon a link to this site. I haven't had any nightmares recently (whew! ), but if I do, I'll have to remind myself about changing it.

      Thanks for the welcomes everyone!
