      Introduction From New Member

      Hi Everyone,

I'm just introducing myself like a good newbie.

My name is Bill, I'm 36 years old and have been trying to lucid dream (in a half-assed fashion) for several years on and off. I kept a dream journal for a few weeks once, but never really knew what to do with the information. I think I was doing it as part of a mystical self-help program... Then, I tried using positive affirmations for a while. I also tried drinking kava-kava tea for a few days on the recommendation of a friend. Yuk! It made me calm, and it made my mouth numb, but nothing happened with my dreams.

Farther back than that, as a child I used to have recurring VIVID nightmares whenever I had a fever. That stopped as I got older, thank goodness. Being crushed to death and/or jumping my Big Wheel over a razor blade filled pit never got any less terrifying.

Every morning that I recalled a regular dream, I used to tell my Mom about it. I think she got freaked out, so I stopped talking about them. But, my fascination with the dream world never ended.

Currently, I've been dream journaling for about 3 weeks now and recall 1 to 3 dreams per night. I tried the FAT technique last night... but didn't become lucid. I'm getting closer though. In my last dream, I told my wife to stop talking with a southern accent (we live in NY). I was very suspicous, especially since she just stopped without arguing or explaing. But then another DC distracted me.

I'll stop rambling now. But I do have a question for all of you pro's out there: Do you feel that you have a better than average success rate when "adopting" a newbie?

Counting down the days to my post in the adoption section,
      Bill

      Hey Reluhcs Welcome

crushed to death and/or jumping my Big Wheel over a razor blade filled pit never got any less terrifying. [/b]
Sounds like similar nightmares to the one I had as a kid, when having a fever

I used to tell my Mom about it. I think she got freaked out[/b]
Haha.. I know what you mean. My mother is real worried about me

Do you feel that you have a better than average success rate when \"adopting\" a newbie? [/b]
Hard to say. I think the biggest advantage is that the adoptee keeps focussed a lot easier, when they have a direction (which the adopter helps with)
Remember though, an adopter isn't really meant to spoonfeed and coddle the adoptee. Its really up to the adoptee to try things out.
I believe its does usually give a better than avg success, but it still really depends on the adoptee. Some people are the type that don't need a guide or mentor...
