      Quick Q on journal

So I came to the site several months ago with the goal of learning to control my dreams. The area I seemed to have trouble though, and what led to me not really following through well, was my lack of drive to make a dream journal.

Basically I just can't seem to sit myself up in the middle of the night to write, I like sleeping too much.

Recently I got to thinking, would using a voice recorder work as a workable alternative? I think I would be far more likely to reach over, hit a button, and say a few quick sentences than getting out a pen and paper.

Even without following the guidelines here (Dream journal, random dream checks during the day, etc) I can be pretty successful at least reaching lucid state when I try. (In a period of ~90 minutes laying in bed after I awoke today I was able to reach 3 times that I recall clearly, plus a couple more I believe that I don't recall) I just don't have the practice to make them last very long or to exert much control.

I'd like to find a way to work myself into better practices though because if I can reach this level relatively un-trained I'd really like to see what I can do when following through properly.

Anyways, I was just thinking about if I could use a voice recorder, and then just transfer it to print the next day? Also any tips to help myself follow through better this time would be wonderful.

Hi Yarg. I have the same problem. I have a hard time convincing myself to get up and record my dreams. So, for my dream journaling, I have my laptop next to my bed with the mouse waiting on the record button. I just press that and record my dreams. Although recently I've been getting too lazy to even record my dreams this way

A voice recorder might be something to try.

I love sleep too - even thinking of rolling over to write down in my DJ is a pain sometimes. But! With willpower, I've come to get over that because I realize that I will be able to go back to sleep immediately after writing a few lines down. Even if I wake up a bit more than I'd like, I will always eventually fall back to sleep. When I wake up for good, any frustration I might have had during that time is gone, and later it's fun to read what I wrote.
