      1. I recalled reading on a forum (perhaps this one a few years back) what sleep paralyis could be. I tried do coax myself into a lucid dream, but couldnt do it.

      2. Same site - the way to beat paralysis & wake up is to focus all your might on moving your big toe. I tried that, without any luck either.

So to sum it up - the survival instinct over-rides my temptation for a nifty sandbox dream. Are there any breathing techniques that would help?
Keep reading and becoming familiar with it is all I can tell you. If there was a way to get rid of it, or make it less terrifying, someone would be making a lot of money because a lot of people experience this on a regular basis, just regular people. Narcoleptics get it way worse.

you do it EVERY night when you are asleep. The only difference is that your mind is awake while your body went to sleep. It's a good thing! it means that you can get into a lucid dream! Its not dangerous either, though I would try to control what exactly passes through my mind if I were you, since you start to experience hallucinations and such.
