      A hello & a strange dream

Hey okay so i've stumbled upon the whole lucid dreaming concept a few times now, but it was only last week when i was falling asleep i realised i couldn't move (i could open my eye lids with alot of strain) and then i thought i might be able to control my dream, and i kind of did a tiny bit but then i woke up

anyway it got me thinking about a parculiar night about 4 years ago

i remember 'waking up' and thinking theres gays hid behind my curtain. and i was really really scared. now i am not at all homophobic and i don't think the fact they were gay made it scary maybe just the presences? but then i went back to sleep.. anyway i've been reading posts and i've read about false awakening. do you think perhaps that experince was a false awakening? and if so i could have maybe controlled it..

also just a query but when u lucid dream does everything appear as normal? apart from fuzzy edges etc, do you know for definate that you're dreaming? i have visions of thinking i'm in a dream and actualy not being and falling down the stairs of something! eeek.

Hey raindroplets. I am almost positive that was a false awakening and if you would have realized that, you could have controlled it. When You lucid dream, everything appears normal, it looks just like how it would in real life. Reality checks are good to help you decide if you are dreaming or not. The nose plug RC- plug your nose and see if you can breathe in. in a dream you will be able to. Some people like to look at their hands because they sometimes have 7 fingers on one hand and 4 on the other. A good reality check is to think how you got to the place you are in. You remember going to sleep and you know its a dream. There are a lot of threads on reality checks, i would advise you search for them. good luck with lucid dreaming.

I understand your fear, I also wouldn't like people hiding in my room who could potentially fill up some holes in my body . I'm also not a homophobe or anything.

But think of it like this: If you're a woman you don't want a straight guy hiding behind your curtains because he is a potential rapist. As a guy it's just the same .

Waking up, paralysis, plus the hallucination that there was a presence in the room? Textbook sleep paralysis.
