My experience today, that made me look up lucid dreaming

This was my experience today, that forced me to look up this sort of dreaming,
because this dream was unlike any other I had before, it was so vivid
and I could also think and decide what to do in it.

I went to sleep at 4 am and woke up at around 9 because of my roommate.
After that I was awake for approximately 3 hours and I just laid on the couch.
Images started to appear and I started to dream, but the difference was
that this was an incredibly more realistic dream and I also knew it was just that.

I was dreaming that I was in a hostel on the beach and some guys were trying to pull
a prank on me by covering me in a movable shower and then pouring ice on me,
but unlike most dreams, I could actually fight back and ended up beating them
up and then taking the shower to my room so they couldn't abuse it anymore(I remember
waking up during this time because I actually kicked my bed covers, but I went
straight back to dreaming again even though I knew it was just that).
They knocked on my door and demanded that I gave it back. I remember looking through the
keyhole and seeing them. I told them to beat it if they don't want to go face to face again.
They went away and I opened the door and went to the opposite door to go see my friends(a couple).
We talked for a bit and then we went to my room. But lo and behold in my room there
were two nude girls smiling on my window shelf. My friends were a little surprised
but came in anyway. I locked the door and they all laid on the bed and we started to have sex.
I remember everything and it was incredibly real. I could feel her hips, smell
her scent and all of a sudden I woke up and I found myself doing the motions as
if I was doing it for real. I was so perplexed by everything that I had to look
it up and find out if I could make it happen again.

I have some kind of a problem with sleep paralysis or lack thereof because I banged my head a few
times before in a dream and now this dream in which I actually did all the things
I was dreaming on my couch.

Hey Solemn. Nice job on your first lucid. It seemed to me like a WILD and then you woke up and did a DEILD and went right back into the dream. Sleep paralysis is when you can't move at all, i don't see how you could've banged your head during it. It was probably just in sleep paralysis that you thought you were hitting your head. Sometimes in sleep paralysis you hear people talking and other scary stuff happens. I've been kidnapped in SP. It was kind of scary.

What I meant was that I have a lack of paralysis, I actually move in my sleep

In another dream I had it was raining frogs and a big
fat one landed on the back of my neck. I could feel it kicking and so I actually
banged my head on the closet next to my bed. I immediately woke up and went
to see if my head was bleeding in the mirror. The next day I could see a bump
on my head so I knew it was real.

Thanks for clarifying which kind of method I was experiencing.

Nice, congrats on the lucid dreams and finding your way to DV Stick around, and you'll be able to have these more and more frequently and to control them Let me know if you need any help

This would not necessarily be a problem with sleep paralysis. You only experience sleep paralysis when it just so happens to occur, just before and right after sleep, and in most people this does not happen at all except for maybe a few rare times throughout their lives.

On the other hand, REM atonia is responsible for paralyzing your body to keep you from acting out your dreams during REM sleep. It is possible that you were in REM but atonia failed to kick in (which would be an instance of REM Behavioral Disorder), or that you were simply having an Non-REM (NREM) dream, in which your body is relaxed and difficult to move, but not paralyzed and fully capable of moving.

Thank you for all the info, I'll definitely have to find out about REM disorder.
The strangest part was waking up and still holding my hands in mid air and have the feeling of touch gradually disappear from them.
