      Uncontrollable urge to swallow

I've been trying to have a WILD for the past 4 weeks, but I fail every single time. This is how it usually goes: I go to sleep for 3-5 hours, then my alarm clock wakes me up then I lie down and stay completely still. After a few minutes I start feeling this heavy wave go over my body and then I get this uncontrollable urge to swallow which causes the wave to go away.

This happens every single time, as soon as the wave comes the urge comes along with it, then I lose the wave.

Can anyone suggest something that might help? Or maybe just suggest a different technique altogether.

same with me my friend. Even if I don't have saliva to swallow. I have too. If I find a way I will let you know.

The body is such a jerk sometimes...

Its testing to see if you are asleep or not, which you might already know.

If you can get past this, your body would probably happily fall asleep.

As for suggestions... Breathing through your mouth, as to help evaporate drool. Possitioning your head differently, or even better, possitioning your head so you could drool... Gross, yes, but effective.
      Bollocks.

Swallow. It shouldn't set you back too much, just don't do it when you're close, but then again, if you're close then you shouldn't want to swallow.

yeah like they said its just your body tryin to test you.. i get these little itchy spots on me when im bein tested and i wanna move alot..i find if ignore the itches they go away in seconds..its kinda weird..sumtimes they dont though and i have to scratch..this prob sets me back more than anything. though i do get the urge to swallow sumtimes its not very intense..my advice is to swallow the first two or three times and try not to think about it when you do..then try your hardest to ignore it if it come back..
or even swallow over and over as many times as you can as fast as you can until swallowing is hard..lol i use this to get rid of hic-ups
      hope this helps

I would say just swallow. It's a natural function of the body to do it -- even while you are sound asleep at night! That's how you drain the saliva. If you are beating yourself up over it, that will ruin your chances of WILD. But if you just swallow like it's no big deal and stay frosty, you'll do fine.
