      Sleep time

I'm new to the entire Lucid dreaming concept.

In fact, until earlier today, I was unaware that the ability to control your dreams was called "Lucid Dreaming". I just assumed it was something that happened once in awhile; and I didn't know it was something to be controlled.

But I read up on it today and I must say; I'm enthralled!

Tonight is going to be my first night at attempting to remember my dreams; but I'm gonna go for the whole shabang anyways, you know, to test the waters, see what I'm already capable of. I mean I am pretty determined and pretty confident.

Hopefully I'll be successful! but I'm willing to put in the effort if not.

I'm excited for the next few weeks now. any tips or advice are welcome.

Hey, welcome! A word of advice; don't get too excited. Lucid dreaming is hard work. You'll be super excited when you go to sleep and suddenly wake up the next day and be pissed. You'll try again; your dream will be more vivid and memorable. you'll have an amazingly obvious dreamsign (like, say, there are 2 suns), but you won't notice it.
I'm not trying to discourage you, don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to keep you from getting frustrated and quit (like I did for a while )
I hope you enjoy this site and all it has to offer

      Happy Dreaming!

      Hey, welcome to DV

As Conkt said, don't be too disappointed if your missed obvious dreamsigns. Just make sure you note them and then have a good laugh about it. You just try again next night, and soon, you won't miss one

      Thanks for the welcome fella's!

But I have pretty good news! I can vividly recall like three dreams from last night. so it went well I like to think.

ha, but I slept in an extra three hours just to keep going; I'm gonna have to keep myself from doing that again.

Oh, I even was able to write down one of my dreams last night to help me remember. I didn't really recognize any dream signs though, except for maybe the color red? I remember that color sticking out in the dreams that I can recall.

but I'm pretty stoked for sleep tonight, and I'll work on not being overly excited.

Welcome, and good luck. It can take a while for a dream sign to show itself...

well that's good. I'll keep my "eyes" open for any recurrences tonight.

so here begins night two! I'm gonna head off to crash here pretty soon.

it's funny because I was way too excited last night, I'm gonna have a bit more self control tonight... at least that's what I'll shoot for.

Heh, I'm in the exact same boat as you matey, just one day ahead. The same giddy feeling of excitement, the same disappointment/impatience after my first dream yesterday (but it went pretty well, actually).

Hm, actually, this will be my third night trying. The first night, I remember looking down at my hands and seeing them blurry. I had very low level lucidity...

Last night I remembered my dream very well, but I had no lucidity. This night, I'll continue working. I've changed my reality check - I have tried to improve my dream recall, but truth be told, I don't have the luxury of waking up 2 or 3 times a night to try, unless I want to wake up the dog .

Good luck, and think of it this way. We're always going to sleep, one way or another, so this is a battle we can and may fight for the rest of our lives. I'm looking forward to it!

It's not a battle, it's a cooperation If you 'fight' with your dreams, you'd be fighting with yourself, and that's not a thing you'd want to have.

As for recalling dreams, I wake up several times per night, naturally, whcih is a great aid. Just go to bed with the intention to wake up after each dream

      bam!

      night two is done!

good news too! I think I may have found a definite dream sign! I can remember three or four of my dreams from last night, and of course the ones from the night before.

The only thing that I can recall seeing in multiple dreams is my older brothers truck! I think it might be because everytime I see it outside my dreams, I just wanna drive the piss out of it! lol it's a bright red 85' chevy scotsdale with 35 inch tires and 6 inches of lift..

it's a beauty to say the least.

But last night in both of my more vivid dreams I used the truck to drive off, or rather escape the situation I was in.

and good news number B! I came up with a good reality check. I live right next to the tracks. so everytime I hear and feel the train pass I just do a quick check; it'll work while I'm asleep too so I'm stoked.

and nice to meet you too mate. lol, where you from? I don't hear that term too often

      Good luck, vici.somnus!

I'm glad you found a dream sign, and that you've found a good reality check scheduel.

Many of the people on DV are from Europe and Austrailia, expect the occasional "mate"

      Ha, thanks Del

Yeah, I was having trouble figuring out the purpose of a dream sign for some reason. But when I found one to use; it clicked.

and the train thing, lol, I'm proud of myself for that one, cause they keep a regular schedule... Oh! there's one now!

Canada, actually, just used to saying it because I live overseas.

Anyway, this night was a bit more unsuccessful. First off, how do you know when one dream ends and another starts? They say to record all your dreams, but I generally seem to know 2 'phases'. The first phase I remember is a bit more peaceful, the last is more intense with action.

Last night, I didn't even think about a reality check, nor notice my dream signs (I've only recorded for 3 days, and the only thing that stands out for me is a sort of witchfire-type colour, or friends from school). The only dialogue I remember is telling someone that they don't understand about lucid dreams .

Still, I must perservere. I'm really just trying to build up a good record of dreams, and along the way, hopefully gain some insight into lucidity. Happy dreaming .

ha, I couldn't of said it better myself.

I'm just gonna keep doin journal entries until I stumble on some sort of break through.

and it makes sence what you said about not knowing where one dream starts and the other ends. I think sometimes that they're the same dream, they just sort of morphed into something else.

and finally, How do Canadians spell Canada? (all in good fun)
