      started LD and then stopped

I've always had really vivid and crazy dreams. Dreams where the weirdest things happen and I have always been able to remember them the next day.

Late last year I started to LD. First one I was in a dream and suddenly I said to myself "I'm lucid dreaming". as soon as I realised that everything went black and I felt like my soul was being ripped out of my body. I was really really scared, and was fighting it. Then I woke up and fell back asleep a few minutes later to more (non-Lucid) dreams.

I researched the correlation between dying in my dreams and dying in real life because I thought I was actually dying. Seems not to be true, but how can anyone know for sure?

The 2nd time I LD I again became aware that I was LD and my body started vibrating. It sounds weird, but I was fighting it again and woke up vibrating all over.

3rd time (and last time) I was in a dream and suddenly became aware that I was LD. I picked up a pair of sunglasses, put them down again, picked them up again (I couldnt believe this was happening) and put them down again. Then I woke up.

Since then I still get very vivid dreams (especially If i am too hot when asleep) but no LD which I'm really disappointed about because I was just starting to enjoy it.

If you can suggest any tips for helping LD that would be great. Otherwise thanks for letting me join your forums!

Well it sounds like you're getting too excited when entering your dream. Tell yourself, yeah I'm lucid dreaming, so? Make it seem like no big deal. Then stabilize your dream. There are many ways to do this, feel objects around you, eat something, listen to sounds, observe detail, rub your hands, and many many more.

Also, when dreaming keep remind yourself that you're dreaming and doing RC's to stay awake, and gain more control. If you haven't already, try some new techniques. Happy Dreaming!

Well waking up in vibrations was most likely Sleep Paralysis. So congratulations on experiencing that!

Also, good job on getting lucid, however short. You seem good with DILDs already, so I would suggest following that.

You said you remember dreams every night, may I ask, how many?

      And,
If you have any questions, send me a PM, or ask any of the Dream Guide Staff.

      Good luck, and happy lucids.
      Bollocks.

      Welcome to DV!

Sounds to me that for the first two you were a bit afraid of LDing and that lead to the abrupt end of those LDs. Strong emotions (like fear or excitement) when a LD first starts can sometimes destabilize the dream, so it is best to try to stay calm for the first few minutes of a LD.

Check out the quick start guide for some good pointers. There is a ton of information here to help, so poke around for a while! If you need any help or have any questions, just ask!

And in answer to your question, no, you won't die in real life if you die in a dream . I mean, if you somehow excited an extremely old, unstable heart to the point where it was equal to holding a gun to your head, then maybe you could cause cardiac arrest - but no, this isn't the Matrix .

      Red face Wow

      Hey Katie,

I just joined after reading your post so i could reply toyou!!

I have very similar experinces as you... I have had weird , lucid dreams for about 4 years now at first i thought i was going crazy until i actually knew what lucid dreaming was.

I would always lucid dream 2 days after partying heavily for about 2 nights which i basically took as a sign to slow down cause they totally freaked me out.

Unfortunately (and i say this cause i ve had only frightening experiences so far) i get them very frequently now. I have the same feeling where as soon as i realise I am dreaming i freak out, panick and try and wake myself up. This usually gives me 'sleep paralysis' where it takes me about a minute before i 'shake'myslef awake.

Delphinus, are you saying sleep paralysis is a good thing? is this linked somehow to lucid dreaming cause so far it has only freaked me out.

I have tried a few times to control my dream but have only managed a few seconds until i panic...

Meditation works, simple breathing meditation that is. It will help you to relax, and not get worked up.
