      Thumbs down Thoughts in dreams

I have had two dreams in which I had a single thought. I was not aware that I was dreaming but, this has never happened before. If I do something I would think "I should have done that instead." So I was wondering is this being sort of lucid? If I "notice" this while im dreaming what should I try to do?

      Thx DV!

Hmmmmm, trying to understand your post. Tell me if I'm on the right track:

I had a dream once where I was inspecting my toilet paper holder to see if it was fastened to the wall securely. Except it was mounted where the light fixture should have been. Almost immediately, I thought 'hey this doesn't belong here'.

Is that example whet you are trying to get across? Anyway, I think I was close to being lucid in that dream, but close is not lucid. So if that's what you were asking, then no...that's not sort of lucid.

Err, no? I'm curious about this subject; I've heard it from a couple people already. Do you guys really mean that you don't think at all in dreams? I always have thoughts running in my dreams, like, "I'm biking on the sidewalk; I should probably enter the sidewalk to not be a hazard to pedestrians," or, "Why is he acting like this, that's not normal behavior..." They are simple thoughts maybe, but definitely complete, conscious thoughts. So, no, that is in no way a form of lucidity, which is defined only as knowing you are in a dream. I'm just very confused as to how one could not think at all; it almost seems impossible. Are you sure you just don't pay attention to what you think?

I have thoughts in all my dreams, although I do have varying degrees of it! Sometimes it's a single repeating thought, sometimes it's complex (not always a good thing) and sometimes it's just normal levels of thought. Interesting question though.

I sometimes think in my dreams too. Sometimes I can kind of replay the same dream many times, without being lucid.

Hyde: That is very interesting. Thanks for clearing that up!

Kitten: I think its amazing that you can repeat dreams, wouldnt that help to obtain lucidity?

Woh, that's kind of like dreaming in black and white. I wonder why that stuff happens. I often think in non-lucids. It just seems like a natural extension of waking life. Then again, I live in my head...

Truly, but having thoughts in my dreams, you would think I would be lucid!

I have thoughts in all my Dreams. most of the time anyways. my dreams play out almost like movies and im able to question stuff and comment :/ one time i didnt like the ending to my dream (well the WHOLE dream sucked) it was depressing and i remember thinking "Screw this!" so halfway through the end of my dream i dreamed up a really quick awesome ending and woke up smiling? anyone else get this? when dreams piss you off or you just dont like them you change them? :L i wonder if its the beginning of a lucid?or could have been a lucid? You would think if while I had the thought I would realize im dreaming!
Well, depending on what you think you may find yourself near-lucid and never actually "break through".
One thing is being in a non-lucid, watching DCs and thinking one of them is being a real ass.
Then another is being in a near-lucid and thinking something like "wow, this is so realistic" (and then wake up and think you're an ass ).
And then you can think "Oh, wait a minute, this ain't right... I'm dreaming!" and really go lucid.

Dreams are sneaky. Check out just how easy it is to miss lucidity.
