      Success!! Yippie!!

      Hi everyone,
I'm new here this is my first thread.
I found this forum by accident when I was doing some research on a thing called "The Lucid Dreaming Kit" (that I also had run into by acident), if it was worth getting it and so on, and in the end I forgot about the kit and spent about 10 days just reading and reading the forum, so awesome, so much info..whoa!

My story so far: I had some lucid dreams as a child and really got into it in adolescence, read all the Books I could get my hands on (LaBerge etc) and had some good lucid dreams.
But then somehow I lost it..and I think it was because I never found a good technique that worked for me, got too tired of recording dreams, had noone to share experiences, too much stress..you know..
But I always wanted to go back to it, and here I am.

As I said, I was reading this site for about ten days, got motivated again, started a dream journal again and tried a few other things, which were:
      1. Taking Vitamin B6 for 3 days (40mg)
      2. Drinking apple juice before bedtime
      3. going through my dream journal in the afternoon and scrutinizing it (I like to make notes where I should've noticed that it was a dream..)
      4. I watched in the evening some youtube binaural beats theta wave videos, mainly this one

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDKGtGjJiFA&fmt=18

      5. I listend to some of my favorite soothing music just before sleeping to be really relaxed
      6. I even had done some random EFT on lucid dreaming over the past few days

You may ask, "Er, all of this on the same night??" Yeah, I know, but that is how desperate I was to get back into it!!

      And it worked!!
I am so totally thrilled!! I had one of the longest lucid dreams I ever had, it seemed to go on for ever and ever..

"I am getting to bed in a long sort of living room. Stylish, wooden planks on the walls. Beautiful old fashioned bed. It's half dark. From the bed I can see long white linnen curtains moving at the far end of the room, even though I know that I closed the window and noone should be there. It's creepy.
I try to ignore it, but every time I look up to check the window, my bed has miraculously moved CLOSER towards the window!! I am getting annoyed and suddenly I realize: "This can't be! I am dreaming! I am actually dreaming!" I am so happy that I jump up and down and around the room. My vision is slightly blurred but I can decide what to do next, where I'm going, etc. I look into a mirrior and I realize that I look younger than normal. The next time I look older. I find this fascinating. I decide to try out the "Spinning " thing that I read about (to change a dream etc.) and first I spin clockwise, and immediately notice that my vision gets clearer. Then I try counterclockwise but that doesn't work so good, I stumble over my feet. (I am right handed) I think: Wow, this dream goes on and on, I wonder if I can make it last all night?
Then I do some stuff that I forgot and in the end I decide to go to one of my favorite places in dreams: an adventure pool (I often dream of these, they're indoor pools or tropical places, with fountains, great slides, with pools of all sizes on different height levels..awesome!) There are lots of people there. While I go around one pool, I realize that my vision fades, and I draw the conclusion that it is better for me to actually do things than just to look at scenarios.

I woke up and was so happy. When I made notes of the dream I realized that already there were many parts missing, and I understood what people here meant when they were saying:
"Get a good dream recall or otherwise you'll forget your lucid dreams"
I always thought forgetting lucid dreams would be impossible, but I learned differently tonight. Maybe because the dream was so long.

So, I guess the next thing to do is to track down what it really was that worked so well. I guess it was the binaural beats. I never treid them before.
Oh, and I should add that I was dizzy all morning, as if my brain had a hard time getting out of that mode..anyone here experienced this also after along lucid dream?

Any suggestions on what I could try next time I am lucid? Some experiments to get better LD skills maybe?

Thanks for reading. Thanks for sharing.

Hey, welcome to DV and congrats on finally getting back into lucid dreaming! And what a neat lucid, too Isn't it scary how quickly they can fade away? I am such a bum when it comes to keeping a steady DJ and yes, you benefit tremendously from keeping one Awesome job with the spinning though, I can never get that one to work but it sounds like you had some success Well, I don't think you'll ever have to worry about not having people to share your lucid dreaming with! In addition to the Newbie Zone there's even a Lucid Experiences forum, a Task of the Month forum, as well as all of the other on-topic forums and the chat

I never feel that way after a lucid dream, usually I feel very clear-headed and energized. On the other hand, whenever I listen to binaural beats I end up with a headache or migraine for at least half the day This has only happened a few times because after the third or fourth I realized even if it wasn't what was causing them, I could get lucid without them But hey, keep trying and work out what is best for you, it's different for everyone.

As far as improving induction skills, all I saw what that you kept a DJ and used some lucid aids. I'm assuming you DILD, but do you do any reality checks on top of keeping that dream journal? I find that reality checking is the key for me, and I don't think I have every heard of someone doing reality checks properly and not having success.

Another thing that caught my eye is that you had a problem I sometimes do, which is that you had a lucid and spent some of it debating what you should do. Usually I advise people to keep a list of Dream Goals, just 5-10 things that you would LOVE to do during a lucid dream, and make sure to have them VERY well memorized (during a lucid it for some reason can be very difficult to remember them). Don't have them in order of 1-10 by how much you want to do them, just have them memorized and always in the back of your mind so that when you do become lucid, you can say "Oh, I just want to sit back and observe how my dream characters interact" or "Ok, I've gotta make it all the way to the moon tonight, how can I view the sky from here?"

Anyway, hope some of that advice helps you out. As I've said, welcome to Dreamviews and I am looking forward to hearing more about your lucids!!!

      Thank you, Shift.
Yes, I definitely DILDed, and yes, I had done some reality checks the previous days in waking time. Will focus on it even more and thank you for reminding me. I just checked the section, there are loads of good ideas.

Talking about reality checks, today something really funny happened: I was sitting with a friend in a restaurant we had never gone to before, a very strange place with lots of ugly colors, and all of a sudden I saw a man at the bar with lots of tatoos, a flower necklace, incredible 70s sunglasses, a HUGE sombrero and a bast-fibre skirt and I thought...whoooa..here I go again..!! This must be a dream!

It was so bizzar an unrealistic, until I realized that it was carnival season and that he was probably going off to a party later!! Still, I did a reality check (pinching), just in case

Good idea to make a list, I#ll do that , too.
      This is so much fun.
      Thanks again!
