      Reality Checks

I know the basic idea behind this but how do you get into the mind set? like say i was to pinch my nose and check if i can breathe would i just do that every hour during the day, and hopefully it follows into my dreams?

Whats the other basic check you can do during the day which are easy and very effective, how often would you do the checks etc?

Like last night i dreamed i was singing a Sclub7 song whilst riding on a water slide, lol surely i would have known that was a dream right? But it never crossed my mind i could have been a elephant with 10 legs and i wouldnt butt a eyelid!

There is a tutorial about reality checks, you should read for more basic reality checks.
About when to do them... best probably when you see your dreamsigns. But the two lucid's I've had now weren't induced by RC's but just realizing it was a dream, but after that I did reality checks to confirm it, but never got to finish those though because I woke up:/
What's the difference between dreaming that you're lucid and lucid dreaming?

Yup, that's the most important part. Technically you shouldn't even have to do a physical action, but they're flatout proof if they work. The mental awareness and skepticism of your environment are critical, at least for me. I've done reality checks so many times in dreams just sort of "oh hmm I might be dreaming" *push finger into hand* "Oh look a flying goldfish....." just because I'm not really focusing on that awareness aspect. Just keep trying, and always make sure to really stop and heavily question what's going on. Hope it does help

I think that if you allways plug your nose, you'll get used to it being plugged, and to your RC fails, and so will happen in your dream, so I try to change my RC's often, and combine several techniques. At the moment, I check my clock, plug my nose, try pushing my finger threw stuff, check my clock again, and trying to check more clocks around me if there are any.

Sometimes I RC this way: I just do nothing for like half a minute, looking around me for anything suspicious or irregular, anything odd that might suggest I'm dreaming. I find my dreams very active and intensive, so If nothing happens for 30 seconds, I must be awake. (It wouldn't make sense if all you would have done in your dream is sit and do nothing for like 5 minutes)

This simply isn't true. If you are doing a reality check, it's because there is the high chance that you're in a dream and you think that you might be dreaming. So every single time that you do your reality check, you should be doing it with a lot of attention and excitement, expecting it to prove that you are dreaming. Since you are expecting it to work, if you are dreaming it should work. It's the expectation that's important here, and the anticipation that you will have extra fingers, that your finger will come out the back of your hand, that you will breathe anyway. My RCs have not exhausted themselves even after 10 months of continuous use. I use them maybe 16 times a day on average, and have them actually work maybe one or two times a month. That's about one success to every 480 failures per RC. And they're still going strong.
And, as you've said, a reality check isn't simply the physical act.

I have a few standard RC's I do: First, I'll make Wolverine claws come out of my hands. This never fails to work. The second is I'll make myself levitate, or spin a Spider~Man web from my wrists. It's cheesy stuff, but fun to do.

I try not to do rc's only when strange things happen, because the strange things that happen to me in dreams seem completely normal. I don't try and do them every single hour, I just do them at random times and think alot during the day "I wonder if I'm dreaming..."

The two rc's I've always used are holding your nose then breathing through it and checking the time on the clock, turning, then checking it again. They've always worked for me
