      Hello ^_^

Hello there *waves* I'm new here ( obviously) and just wanted to introduce myself and ask some questions about lucid dreaming.

I've been roaming around this and various other sites for about a week or so and practicing various techniques on lucid dreams. I have had some in the past but that was before I new much about anything on the subject.
Now I've done various things to try and induce lucid dreams, including random reality checks throughout the day and WILDS and even DILD ( I believe thats what it is called, when you wake up after a REM cycle and don't move and try to ease yourself back into REM in a lucid state?) I've only been trying for about a week and while I did become lucid in one dream I woke up immediately after realizing this. I know I should give it some time, but I wonder if there is anything else I can do to improve my chances of gaining lucidity? and how long dose it usually take to become a lucid dreamer once you actively try to become lucid? Sorry for all the questions ^^;; but thank you in advance

      Welcome to Dreamviews

I am also new, but i'd advise against random reality checks.
instead, if keeping a dream journal (if you haven't already).
it helps improve your dream recall and allows you to look back on your dreams, and notice any "Dreamsigns" you might have.

if you see a dreamsign, do a Reality check, and you will also begin to do them in your dreams. and when a reality check fails, you will know you're dreaming. This process of realising you're dreaming is called a Dream Induced Lucid Dream (DILD).

This tutorial section is very helpful. Good Luck.

      Welcome, check out the tutorials.

Before joining this site I was trying for a month and after joining I had ny first in 3 days.

Although I not saying doing random RC's is bad because I used to do that. Now I do one every half an hour.

I know how you feel, because I was trying and nothing happened. After joining this site, I spent a lot of time on this website. I heard just reading and answering things about Lucid Dreams increase your chances to have one.

Every dreamer is different so I don't really know how long it takes on average.

      Good Luck

MILDs are also very useful for newbies, especially with the WBTB. There are tutorials in the tutorial section and one on all of the induction techniques at the top of this forum. Check them out
