      Introduction and a question...

      Hello!

I registrered here today because im quite interested in this lucid dreaming phenomenon, i started reading about it a couple of weeks ago and got more and more interested. During this time i have done reality checks like 10-30 times a day (looking at my hand basically). My dream recall is also pretty good, i can usually remember about 1-2 dreams per night. But now heres my question:

I had a weird dream about playing some video game, and there was a person sitting next to me watching me play, and later in the dream i asked that person: "am i dreaming?", the person answered yes. I then looked at my hand and it had about like 8 fingers, i looked at my hand for about ten seconds, Then woke up about three hours into my sleep. I remember this dream pretty clearly (probably cuz i woke up just after it). But im just wondering, Why was this dream just 2-3 hous into my sleep, shouldnt it be 5-6? Why did i wake up just after the dream ended? Also, was this a lucid dream?

      Thanks to anyone replying

That was a lucid. You dream all throughout your sleep. REM periods are numerous. Sometimes you get excited and wake up.

Huh, yeah i guess i got pretty excited, but it was weird though that after realizing that it was a dream, i just sat there and watched my hand for a few seconds and then it ended... Thanks for answering!

You got excited, which caused you to wake up. That happens quiet a bit when first starting out, the only way to fix it is to have more lucid dreams. your first dreams do start after about 2-3 hours, but they're usually very grey and blurry. If you suppress REM for a while (like waking up too early) then you will have a REM rebound and dream a lot more, that could have happened for you.

Yeah, that seems right. This dream was quite blurry, i only remember key parts like asking if it was a dream, looking at my hand and playing Gta 4.
      Thanks for answering!
