      Newbie with some experience

      Hi there,

I see from some threads that you guys are you having some fun!

I just wanted to introduce myself and share my experience with you. I had some fun with my brain too.

      Dream recall
I generally have a good dream recall, almost every night I remember one dream, but if I don't pay much attention, I forget about it. When I was about 12 I was reading my mom's Freud book about dream interpretation, and also a less scientific interpretation book (for lotto purposes . Just the fact that I was reading that in that period gave me good dream recall every night; I also kept a journal. I know that the journal really works.

      Out of body experiences
The first one happened when I was 15, I didn't even know that such thing could have been possible, so I genuinelly thought I was dead! But I was extremely calm, also in the future these experiences have always been good.
For a period I did relaxations every day and in the end I was able to actually provoque the experience... every time it was me floating about 20-30 cm out of my body. Now it's been a few years, and it doesn't happen if not in very rare cases..
Sometimes I would get lucid during a dream, feeling a vibrating sensation and think.. yes, I can get out of my body. I would jump in the dream and wake up out of my body. (seems crazy!)

      Lucid dreams
I got occasionally a few of them.
As a child I probably had the best one. Since I can remember I used to dream about dinosaurs chasing me until I fell down from a mountain cliff. Every single night!
One evening (I was about 4) I was really fed up, and while getting to sleep I thoought to myself "it's just a dream, it's just a dream". When I got asleep and starting to see dinosaurs I heard my voice saying the above... At that point I became lucid and I had no fear anymore, all the dinosaurs went down the cliff this time and I had my first no-nightmare dream! That had been amazing.

As a child I often dreamt to get up, go to the bathroom etc.. and this ends with a wet bad Or I would dream to get up in the middle of the night, watch the time in the kitchen and come back to bad, feel a jump telling me that that was a dream..

The most recent ones: I was in a spectacular city, really something never saw before; I get lucid and start congratulated myself because if that was all in my mind, I had been wonderfully creative
Sometimes I would realize that I am dreaming, getting excited because I can do whatever I want, but often I wake up or not controlling or getting something I don't want.. I should probably learn some techhniques..

In the latest one, I was suprised of how everything looked and felt exactly the same as reality; I touched and scratched my arm to try and I felt the "real sensations".

All this is fascinating, I look forward to read and learn more from you!

Hello, April, and welcome to DreamViews!

I'm glad you're interested in lucid dreams. There is a lot you can learn here from DreamViews about things like that, and more! You have quite good recall, and I'm interested in hear more from you about your OBE's. I suggest reading up on the tutorials, skimming through some of the member's dream journals, and possibly taking a peek in the beyond dreaming section.

Good luck to you on getting better at lucid dreaming, and see you around the forum.

From your description of your experience, it sounds like you're having some great dreams, already. I can't wait to see what happens once you start joining heads with some people around here. Just about everything you described are great ways to get lucid.

If you're looking for some advice on how to get out of your body more, check out some Wake Initiated Lucid Dream (WILD) guides. I think you'll find it is a very similar process.

      Thanks for your responses!

It frustrates me a little that fo a few years now without much practice, I experience OBE's only occasionally...But to be honest LD is far more interesting to me now, since I discover the depth of the experience.

Do any people here have experienced OBEs? I never put that in relation with LD, before.

Most people agree that Out of Body Experiences and Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams are the same general thing. People will always debate it, because it is based on experience and beliefs. I guess there may never really be a good way to know for sure. We do know that they are both induced using almost identical meditation excercises.

The great part about it is, we are gifted with access to both, so we can always find out for ourselves firsthand. No need to trust someone else's opinion, right?

I frequently have both Dream Initiated Lucid Dreams, where I become lucid once already in a dream, and Wake Initiated Lucid Dreams, where I stay aware as I fall asleep into a dream. There is a lot of overlap between the techniques for inducing both kinds. My WILDs almost always have similarities to Out of Body Experiences.
