      Dreaming of lucid dreaming

Sorry if this has been asked before. Last night I had a dream that as I woke up and before I moved, I said, "Hey, I'm dreaming!" And then I realized I was too late because I was waking up from the dream, and not really still in it. But I was still in it! I had convinced myself that I was awake. Then later on, I was talking to some people I work with about lucid dreaming. The whole time, I was dreaming that I had to use the washroom really, really badly. So my mind was not focused on asking myself if I was dreaming.

Anyway, would you say I was close to a lucid dream? Or do dreams of lucid dreaming mean nothing at all?

Dreaming of it means you are thinking of it and thinking of it is usually enough

I had ONE DILD in my life but it was in the second-last REM phase so i don't even remember that well. I was in some weird hilly landscape and i just said "hey i'm dreaming" and flew into the sky. Not sure it was even a proper lucid, lol.

Well, I know I didn't have a lucid. But I guess I just wanted to know if it sounded like I was close to it.

I believe I've had many "close calls", but I think this one was the closest. I'm a slow learner, but when I get something, I really get it! I'm hoping it'll be the same way with lucid dreaming. Maybe my first lucid will be a 15 minute doozey!

Don't worry- dreaming that you are lucid dreaming, as far as I've learned from this site, happens very very often in those who are learning and happens for a while before/for a while after their first lucids. Ignore whatever crazy theories people have on this atm, I'm sure a link will be posted. You're just getting into the right mindframe imo, it's finally carrying over into your dream. Just keep working on reality checking so that when you do say this in dreams you start doing heavyduty reality checks and ACTUALLY becoming lucid.

Once you've had a few lucids too you'll get that experience and knowledge of what it really feels like to be lucid, I've always assumed that that's why the dreams about lucid dreaming end- just because your mind goes "Pfft, that's no lucid dream, I know what a lucid dream is!" Not that they stop entirely, but they're much rarer I think.

before my first lucid dream I dreamt I was a dream character who had a dream and became lucid. Having these types of dreams means you are getting close. Cheers!
