question regarding my first possible LD

      Hey there,
first time im posting on this website, ive become fascinated by the idea of lucid dreaming recently. so last night, im sleeping. in my dream i ask a friend to the lightbulb on and off as i know this is one of the triggers to test whether its a dream. when the bulb goes off, the light remains the same, and i remember saying to myself "this is a dream right now". the next step, i assumed, would be i would come fully aware and become lucid. now i cant remember, but i felt some sort of pressure put onto me when i realised i was in a dream, and i fell to the ground. the next thing i know im in bed at night, and im paralyzed and cant move at all. ive had the paralyzed dream before, i think its something everyone has experienced, but for it to occur right after realising im in a dream, im really confused. this was the first time i believed i could have had a lucid dream, but it didnt work out. can anyone help, i dont know if i did something wrong, or it just wasnt for me.

Certainly sounds like you had a lucid dream, so congrats! That paralyzed sensation is sleep paralysis. Every night during your REM sleep periods your body paralyzes itself (this is called REM atonia) to keep you from acting out your dreams and hurting yourself. Sometimes, this happens when you are not in REM sleep, and when that happens it's called sleep paralysis. Sometimes, waking up like that from a lucid dream can cause you to end up in SP.

Just give it more time and more practice and you'll be having longer lucids in no time

awww cool. thanks for responding bro. sleep paralysis makes alot more sense, ive had it a few times in the past, but not immediately after an LD. Vanilla sky tought about this subject. My mate also told about that he had a lucid dream once, and he was flying. it felt as real as reality according to him, only lasted 30seconds though. god im fascinated by ld's, cant wait for my first proper one. ill keep tryin!
