      New guy!

Hey! I've always been interested in the idea of lucid dreaming, but never took much action towards it. But I'm stuck with a lot of free time now and have no real stress, so I figure this is a great time to work towards lucid dreaming.

As of right now, I don't remember many dreams--probably just two a week. However, starting tonight I'm going to put a pencil and notebook right next to my bed and hopefully by writing down the dreams I do remember, I'll start remembering more! Then I can works towards remembering more than one a night, but I don't think I'm ready to attempt that quite yet.

Just one question though. I always seem to fall asleep better listening to music. But I'm wondering if that's going to have any effect on remembering dreams. I don't see why it would, but then again this is new territory for me so I don't know. And for the reference, the music I generally like listening to before sleeping is drone, such as Nadja. If it makes a difference, it's music I listen to on a regular basis. So my thinking was it might actually be beneficial, because if I'd hear it while dreaming it may help me realize I'm in a dream. What do you guys think?

Hey. Increasing your dream recall might take a while.
I really don't think that the music would affect your recall.

Welcome to DV, Sefalik! I hope you enjoy you stay here and if there's anything we can do, just let us know

Getting in the habit of using a dream journal will help your recall tremendously. Just keep at it!

I've finally managed to re-train myself to fall asleep with relaxing music on and I have an alarm clock/CD player and I usually hit the "sleep" button to turn the music on. It turns off after an hour and I'm asleep before then. If you're listening to music while you dream, it's very possible that it will permeate your dreams at some point in time. Whether or not it helps you become lucid is really up to you. If you train yourself to check your reality when you listen to that music, then I'd say you'll have a good chance of becoming lucid when you hear it. It just depends on whether or not you'll pick up on the cue.

Well, I wish you the best of luck! Feel free to peruse the posts as there's a lot of information already here at DV, but if you can't find what you're looking for, let us know.

Welcome to Dreamviews, sefalik! It's nice to have you.
I don't think listening to music will ruin your ability to remember- Some people use music for lucid dreaming.

      Hey, Welcome to Dreamviews.

If you haven't allready take a look at the tutorials.

Anyway, I listen to music when I try to get to sleep, helps me get to sleep better.

      More Sleep = More Dreams

At least that works for me.

Well like I said, I just want to start by working on my dream recognition. So last night I tried what it said on the site, and just kept telling myself I was going to wake up and remember each dream. And I was really surprised, because I woke up three times during the night and remembered a dream each time! I usually never wake up in the middle of the night, and I rarely remember dreams, so I was pretty amazed at that.

I'm definitely going to start lurking these boards and just absorbing the info here. Thanks for the replies!
