      Very brief lucidity

In my very first post here, I mentioned that I have a lucid dream once every few months. But nothing that I have actively pursued; in said lucid dreams, I "just knew" I was in a dream. However, in these dreams I never attempted to gain control (it was more like watching a movie in that I was along for the ride, but I knew it wasn't real.)

So last night I had a brief moment of lucidity in my dream. I didn't actively perform and reality checks, it was just something that came to me and I knew I was lucid (i.e., there was a T-Rex chasing me. And then the T-Rex spoke to me. Perhaps that was enough for my brain to determine that I was dreaming w/o the use of reality checks.)

Anyway, unlike my other lucid dreams in the past, once I realized I was only dreaming and that the T-Rex couldn't really harm me, I "willed" the T-Rex out of my dream and I flew away. And in my dream was I so damn excited that I was lucid dreaming. I couldn't believe that I achieved lucidity (especially since I've only been trying to actively LD for just a couple of weeks now.) But just as fast as I realized I was lucid, I had a false awakening.

But even after "waking up" in my dream, I was still ecstatic that I attained lucidity (it's just a shame I didn't realize that I was still dreaming. LOL!!)

Congratulations! Maybe you should start doing RC checks when you wake up to prevent FAs.. Just out of curiosity,do you remember what the T-Rex said to you?

Yeah. Initially I was being chased and I climbed up onto the roof to avoid getting caught. At which point I found my mom up there with me. She began to explain to me the logistics of avoiding the T-Rex. Suddenly, rather than being a life-and-death situation, it turned into a physical education-like practice drill scenario where I was supposed to be trying to outrun the T-Rex.

So when the T-Rex arrived at the scene (with his head morphing slightly into a human-shaped head/face) he told me that rather than starting out the the roof, I should start out on the ground. Yeah right! Even though we seemed to be on good terms with such congenial conversation, I said to the T-Rex, "I know you'll still eat me if you catch me. I'm not that stupid."

At that point I realized I was just dreaming. And so I told the T-Rex that he was just a dream and that I could make him disappear. Then I turned around (readying myself to fly away) and snapped my fingers (making the T-Rex disappear) and then I flew away. Then while still mid-flight, I was in such amazement realizing that I was having a lucid dream; I made the T-Rex disappear and I was flying.

And shortly thereafter (<1 min.) I had the false awakening. It was good while it lasted. :-)

      Lol, nice.

I hate false awakenings with a passion...I agree w/ Shroom, I always do a reality check when I wake up.
