      Hello: A Full Introduction

Hey everyone, it's a pleasure to have found this site. I've always loved dreams, so lucid dreaming seems like it would be an amazing experience. I'm going to have to develop better dream recall. When I was younger, I used to remember at least one dream a night. Quite often in dreams I would realize I was dreaming; when it was a nightmare, almost always. I even developed a technique for waking myself up. Most of these dreams ended not long after I realized they were dreams, though. Two, however, I think might of been semi-lucid.

Both of these started as nightmares. The first was when I was about eight. I was in a well-lit room, but it was night-time. On one side of the room there was a door, and the room beyond that was very dark. Other people in the room was talking about the horrible monster that was in there. They seemed excited but I was terrified. Suddenly, it rushed out and grabbed me, picking me up. When I saw it's eyes was when I realized it was a dream. I remember saying something along the lines of, "Hey, you're just a dream." I also got really excited. The monster put me down at which point I asked it a bunch of questions I can't remember, and then woke up.

When I was nine, I had the second of these dreams. This time in my dream I was really little. I was in kindergarten and my father came to pick me up. He was acting really weird though. When we got out into the hallway, he turned toward me with this furious look on his face. For some strange reason it got really similar to the first dream here; my father picked me up and brought up close to his face. I looked at his eyes and they changed. That's when I realized it was a dream. A couple things happened after that, including a horribly botched attempt to fly.

However, once I got to junior high, I started sleeping a lot less. My dream recall suffered badly. I mean badly. If I got lucky, I remembered two dreams a month. And it got a lot worse. Of course, I just thought I wasn't dreaming anymore, which made me very sad. It got to the point where I was almost never remembering my dreams. Then, about a month ago I got a book on dreaming from the library. I found out that we always dream, we just usually forget them. This made me happy and I just decided to make an effort to remember my dreams. I started trying to get more than my usual 5-6 hours of sleep. Now, I usually can remember a dream a week.

It's different, though. I can still remember quite a few of my dreams from when I was little. Vividly, too. Almost like real memories. However, with the dreams I have now I find it hard to remember details even only a week after the dream. I'm hoping this site will help get me back to where I REMEMBER my dreams, and hopefully have a lot of lucid ones too.

      , KingCarnie.

To help remember detail, start a dream journal. Not only will you get more detail, you can always look back and see somethings you could forget.

Its good you've gotten lucid before (remember, lucidity isn't control, just recognition) I hope more occur, and you get good at controling dreams.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
      Bollocks.
