      Hi!

Hello! I have recently discovered this site and I'm really pleased. I've read about lucid dreaming a while ago, but I never really tried it. About a 2 weeks ago I got really into it. I've stared making reality checks pretty much all the time and I've improved my recall. I can now remember at least 2 dreams on most nights. I haven't had a lucid dream with the MILD method yet, but I'm trying to be positive and hope that sometime it will happen

I tried the WILD method a few times and I just can't seem to get it to work. The first few times were probably my fault (I was too exited and almost awake). Whenever I start try to relax my mind becomes too awake and I can't slip into the further stages. Last night my body was completely relaxed (I haven't moved for at least 40 min, I could hardly think of my body) and my mind was focused on breathing or climbing stairs. But I still can't get into the further stages, my body doesn't become paralyzed and I just get frustrated, start moving and fall asleep. I did however feel becoming really dizzy, like someone was shaking my head once. And another time I remember opening my eyes and my room suddently became brighter for a few seconds, but then everything became normal again. Are these some sort of signs before entering sleep paralisys?

You need at least 4-6 hours of sleep before you can enter sleep paralysis. It has something to do with sleep cycles.

That was hypnotic imagery, it means you was getting close

Oh, I'm already exited already. But I think that's the problem
I try to wake up after at least 4 hours, I'm half asleep when I try this but then I just get really exited. When I calm down I'm already awake. Sometimes I think about things that happen, and ask myself if it's hypnotic imagery or something. I think I think to logically and can't relax because of it.

I've read that sleep cycles last 1.5 hours, so make that 4.5 hours, just to be sure.
If you see hypnotic imagery (HI) again, just go with the flow. You should soon feel the "wave" of numbness over your body, and then you should start seeing dream-scenes. Focus on these, imagine yourself being in them already lucid, and you should soon be

this probably isn't that helpful but just though I would tell you that as long as you keep trying it will happen eventually. Every time you attempt to WILD you are making progress whether you realize it or not. Laying down in silence for 40+ mins is probably something entirely knew to you unless you have meditated before... If you do give up after a while you simply don't have the desire to LD bad enough in this moment in time... and i guess, accept that.

i wish you the best of luck

Actually, as I think of it now it could have been a false awakening. I haven't moved for a long time and started counting and saying "I am in a dream". After a while I kept messing up the numbers (after only 20 or so) and probably fell asleep at that time. When I "woke up" a few seconds later I could have actually been in a dream, but I fell asleep again thinking that I failed. Oh well. I plan on trying again tonight.
