      Time to sleep paralysis?

On average, how long do you think it would take me to reach sleep paralysis from the start of the night (i.e. not a WBTB technique)?
And this may sound stupid, but how do I know when I'm actually in sleep paralysis or just not moving? Will it be obvious to me?

Once you are in Sleep Paralysis, it will be obvious.
Everything will suddenly feel 'Heavy' , you will hear a bellowing white nose and you will be unable to speak or move.

I usually find it easier to SP when I just gone to bed or when I've just woke up.
And the time it takes varies each time.

I've just realised what I asked is a bit of a silly question, considering I'm a terrible judge of time if I don't have a clock

I'm going to try to SP tonight. Don't know if I'll be able to or not though. What is the best method for trying to enter it? Will lying there, relaxing and counting my breaths work well enough?

Get into a nice position, I find that either sleeping on your belly or back helps. And try to keep still.
(You don't have to be completely still but it helps)
Stay relaxed and keep you mind on Lucid dreaming and Sleep paralysis. Counting your breaths will help.

The idea is to get you body to fall asleep before your brain.

The last part is where I really agree upon.

Here is my technique. I got my SP on my first try so I don't know if it works.
I'm not sure if this works for everyone because I haven't found this technique on the forums maybe because I improvised on my first try and had no idea what I was doing and got it by chance, but this is basically what I did. Its actually really complicated for me since I don't really know what I did it just happened to me. And if you achieve SP give post it out please since I want to know if this works for everyone

First find yourself some biaural beats. I got mine from http://UnisonTherapy.com but it requires you to buy them for $7 AUD or $5 USD. If you just want to try out this technique I recommend you to download the sample music they let you download for free. Basically what they do is make a tone/beat on the right ear piece and your brain's right side reads it while another beat plays on your left ear and the left side of your brain reads it. If the beats are played together your brain is basically synchronized. I'm not sure how that really helps SP's but to me I just focus on the music as it is a calm type of music and I can focus my brain on the music while I try to go into an SP. (Note: In the middle of your SP the music might get a little eerie even though the last time you played that part it didn't)

Get some stereo earphones, they work best since they mute out all background sounds around you. But because this is just a test it doesn't matter if you use regular earphones unless this technique works for you and you want to continue doing it to achieve SP.

Basically get into a comfortable position and just stay still and listen to the beats. If you feel an itch or anything don't scratch it. Breathe through your nose and try to take a deep breath first and try to shorten your breath everytime you breathe in again. Your body should be doing it by itself though. Get relaxed by just letting your body loose, do not carry yourself, just let the bed do that. Rest your hands, and just listen to the music and try to clear thoughts of stress and other importances. Wait until you feel like a tingle or a little vibration at your feet or hands, thats how my body checks if i'm awake or not. When you feel that vibration do not move at all. Keep still and just focus on the music. If you feel a little giddy or your laughing a bit in your head try to surpress it as much as you can. First time I found out I achieved SP I was bursting in tears laughing in my head. And my lips started twitching from paralysis which sort of lost my paralysis. If you need to swallow do it. At first the tingle should be at your hands, then they should move on to your foot to your thigh. That should be about after 10 minutes. The sample music is about 12 minutes so you should be able to count how many minutes passed by listening to the specific times of the music. When you feel numb at your foot and your hands do not lose concentration, you can start thinking now about things but don't move at all you'll ruin the whole SP and have to start over. After 5 to 10 more minutes pass you should be able to feel your pelvis vibrating or your stomach, do not laugh at this or move at this, it should last for about a minute. After the vibration stops it'll numbness will start moving up your body up until your throat. During this time if you feel scared or if you get frightened and you want to be finished for the day its fine. Just force your body to move out of the situation and then before you do it again read the forums about how SP and how the visions from SP can't hurt you, you'll be reassured. I believe that when your lips and your eyes go fully numb you are in a FULL SP. You can check if you are in a full SP or not by trying to sleep in the form you are in. If you try to sleep for about 5 minutes and you just can't because there is something that is just blocking you from doing it then you are in a full SP. If you are already asleep, it means you can't go to sleep again :]. Start thinking at the point of a memory or something like that. I'm going to try out someones advice about just thinking of a world and creating things in it, because I daydream all the time and i'm quite good at it too, so it should work for me in the SP. If it works it SHOULD take you to a dream or something. I have not yet achieved changing an SP to a LD so yea. I'll keep you posted if I do!
