Thread: REALITY CHECKS!!!!!!

I think the general idea is to practise until they become a habit, so you don't have to remember to do one, you just do it.

On that topic - everyone's best working checks? In my last LD I was fairly certain I was dreaming (I had just flown to New York to look for my friend at home, got there and realized I lived in Africa), but I thought I'd make certain. Closed one eye - yep, there was my nose. Checked my watch a coupla times - it remained obstinately stable. Eventually, it was the jumping into the air and flying down the block to check that convinced me.

Another way to look at reality checks is as a self created dream sign. If as viat says you practice the RC until it becomes habit, then that habbit will transfer to your dreams. Hey presto - a dream sign that you associate with lucid dreams. So just keep doing the RC's when you're awake and let that other bit of your brain do the rest.

On that note, what he said! It's probably the best method (he says as he's still reading through the rest of the site... damn there's a lot to take in), just condition yourself to do checks while you're awake, and they'll become subconscious enough to register when you're asleep. Even something as mild as constantly thinking "am I dreaming right now" or checking a light switch...

Focus...if you get too caught up in the dream, you might get lost in it...be skeptical during waking life, so that your dream life will imitate that skeptical nature.

I would try reducing the size of the picture in your signature, that thing is huge!

You could also say that dreams are the reflection of waking life and visa versa. So you are to caught up in dreams, your to caught up in life. I have the same problem

even the new guy knows this one: you must constantly be alert! () even in reality you must constantly be alert of your surrondings and do frequent reality checks (). If you get in the habit in real life then...
