As Angel mentioned, one thing you could do is form the dreamscape yourself when you enter sleep paralysis.

Or you could just wait it out, and unless you lose awareness or consciousness along the way, you should eventually end up in a dream.

Some people, (myself included,) don't experience HI. It's different for everyone. If you don't get HI, you may want to try what I've done. I wait till I think I'm in a dream after staring at my eyelids forever, then I suddenley get up and walk around. If I am asleep, a dream scene will imediately form. If I'm not, then, oops. But I've gotten to the point where I can usually tell if I'm in a dream without dreams signs or RCs based on that 'dreamy' feeling. So, after enough practice, (if this technique works for you,) you won't have to worry about ruining your chances at a Lucid by standing up in RL. (Real life.)
