      Sleep Paralysis

Hey guys, I been floating round the forums for about a month and I've decided to sign up. Well anyway, I have this problem when I try to lucid dream. No matter what technique I try I always fail at the sleep paralysis stage. I am not afraid of SP though. I'll be lying there with my thoughts when suddenly my whole body will go all tingly and my heart rate will increase. As soon as this happens all my attention goes to thinking about the feeling. But I never find myself paralysed, and the tingly feeling fades away. Could someone help me with getting past this? It's frustrating...

PS. I've tried waiting like ten minutes after the feeling without moving to make sure, nothing...

You don't need SP to become Lucid, you can do it without it. So I have heard anyway.

Also, it sounds like your too aware. You need to be in between wake and sleep.. Sort of like drifting off.
If you are struggling with WILD then you should try DILD instead.

I don't THINK I'm too aware, I'm seriously really dreamy I'm the middle like you said, but as soon as SP starts I instantly snap out of it and I can't stop it it's like what I need is too somehow let it develop without involuntarily stopping it. Maybe by being more sleepy LOL. Also I thought that being lucid without sleep paralysis was just something that varied from person to person, not a technique or something. And I tried (still am) to DILD but I can't figure out a dreamsign and Autosuggestion didn't work either. Closest I got was someone telling me I was dreaming, me realizing then waking up

I had the same problem when I first tried to WILD. Mrdeano is right, you are too aware. Try to remain calm, focus on something else, like your breathing. I know it's not as easy as it sounds, but the more you try the easier it will become.

mr deano is right you know, you dont need to go through sleep paralysis to get lucid dreaming. at first, i suggest you try everything, that way you will know what works best for you. you may find that it all comes to you in time, which is usually the case. this sorta stuff rarely comes to people straight away. just make sure you have a dream journal if you have just started. and if you still want to WILD, maybe you'll be better off doing it in the middle of the night (4 hours into the sleep cycle, i think? ii believe it changes from person to person)

I would recommend a different technique, one that doesn't require SP. WBTB with a MILD is the best for beginners I find

Ok thanks for the suggestions, but a few questions:

1.) what do you think about DEILDing? I tryed it twice first time I freaked out at SP and second the same awareness prob. Do you think this is the easiest? (if I could do the SP part) oh ya and does DEILD work after a non lucid dream or in the morning when you wake naturally?

2.) eh can't remember now cos I'm writing this on my iPod touch and it takes a while LOL.
