      Good evening

      ... ladies and gentlemen.
Right. I'm new to this site, and I figured I might as well make an introduction thread here. Seemed to be the custom.

I'm a 19 year old guy from Norway, who (and this is the shocking part) thinks lucid dreams sounds like fun.

I'm not entirely new to the concept, as I've known about it since sometime in 2007 after a random encounter with a stray comment on an unrelated forum. Natural curiosity brought me, via google, to several FAQs and guides on lucid dreaming. However, when I'd been trying for what felt like a really long time (few months), with only two LDs (both ending almost before they began), I kinda forgot about it. Until now, that is.

      Thank you
      I'm sure I will.

Now, I have a question. I'm not quite sure which "induction method" I should put my first LD under, so maybe one of you can tell me.
I went to bed at the beginning of the night, and while lying unmoving in the bed. I repeated the words "What follows is a dream" to myself. While I was lying there I didn't notice any sort of (unreal) vibrations, sounds or images, or other hallucinations. Then suddenly, with no transition what so ever, I was standing in a room, aware that I was dreaming, and I did an RC.
So, was that a WILD or a MILD, or should I just file it under "other"?

Just one question: were you conscious while you entered the dream? Or did it feel like getting out of a daydream, only to find yourself in a dream?

I didn't "enter" the dream at all. One moment I was in my bed "saying" my mantra and the next I was in the dream. Like a movie cut. That's why I don't know what to call it.

Ah. Goodie. I'll defiantly try that technique to WILD again, then. None of the other WILD methods seem to fit me, cause whenever I try to count my breaths or such, I find myself loosing time or loosing count, which leads to stray thoughts (Like "125, 126 - 148 (!)" or "249, 240 .. 249, 240, 241 ... wait..."), and all other methods seem to rely on feeling SP or turnover signals or seeing things, which I never do.

Learned a lot new since finding this place, though. Last time I based myself mostly on the FAQ from lucidity.com, but here people have gathered much more info and hints and tutorials. I just regret the need for a Dream Journal -.-

You don't need a dream journal to WILD. You have perfect dream recall when WILDing.

But if you want to DILD, then yes, you must have a dream journal. I stopped writing in mine a week ago. It was boring.

I don't have good recall, I mostly just remember a dream if I wake while I'm dreaming it. So I can't really take the chanse :p

At any rate it'd probably be best to proceed on all fronts until I find what works the best.
Edit: And saying "what follows is a dream" is sorta like MILD, and that takes recall so :p

Nope, that wasn't a MILD. By saying those things, you just made yourself stay awake and aware while you entered the dream. And you do have a perfect recall when WILDing. It's like remembering things in waking life, only that it's a dream.

As I said, I stopped writing in my dream journal a week ago (except for my LDs). I lost my dream recall, but I can still remember my WILDs just as well as did before.

What I meant is that repeating those words might work like MILD at some point, that is me realizing it at a later point because I told myself that it would be a dream.
Isn't a MILD basically telling yourself "I will have a dream about X and I'll remember that it is a dream" or "I will realize I'm dreaming"? My mantra of choice could produce the same effect.

All I was trying to say is that MILD is used for inducing DILDs, not WILDs.

Ah. Yeah, I know that. But DILDs can be used for DEILDs, right? :p

Yeah, by telling yourself not to move after waking up, you can use DILDs to have DEILDs. What I'd like to add is that DEILD is a shorter form of WILD (perfect recall :p )

All good things are WILD, then I guess :p
      April Ryan is my friend,
      Every sorrow she can mend.
When i visit her dark realm,
      Does it simply overwhelm.

Uh... I think I experienced HH for the first time... I just can't be sure - it was nothing like anything I've read.
So, I was trying to WILD, and had that whole body-feel-as-lead thing going, and I was sinking back into the bed, and emerging forth again (felt so close). But then my nose started itching. Naturally, I ignored it. But the feeling "explaned" until I was vividly prickeling all around the nose and the mouth. But I wasn't seeing any images, and I didn't hear any sounds. But they do say that HH can be any of the senses, and that certainly didn't feel like anyhting IRL. So, was that it?

Yep, that was it. Sometimes I get only sounds, sometimes only images, but most times I get all of them. But I get these when I'm going to sleep as usual. When I'm WILDing, the images and sounds are more intense, and right before entering SP it feels like there's an earthquake.
      But it's different to everyone.
