New Member to This Message Board :-)

Hello everyone! Its impressive to have found such an interesting and passionate group online, such as your own :-) After reading some posts and seeing the vastness of your group i had to join I have been a member of the Yahoo group “Lucid Dreaming” for about a year now and someone recommended this place to me as that group was kinna losing its edge (unfortunately as it used to be great).

I would just like to introduce myself, my name is Curtis Owen (21) and I’m currently living in England (Stoke on Trent). I’ve been interested in dreams from an early age, but only seriously focused on it as a new language since the start of this year. From a sprong all things dreamlike have interested me from the work of David Lynch, Tim Burton to the Beatles and Nightwish. I have kept a dream journal for 11 months now, on and off, its been interesting trying to keep a log of dreams. At the moment I am more interested in letting my dreams communicate with me rather than achieving lucidity, I enjoy sitting back and listening to my imagination rather than jumping in head first to control my dreams. I always find the narrative interesting as I dream about crazy things. One dream I had last week (if you guys are interested) was about Spiderman and the Green Goblin, instead of them being individual characters within a comic book apposed to each other, Spiderman and the Green Goblin were the same person, it was a split personality trait that Spiderman didn’t realize, he didn’t realize he was actually fighting his alter-ego, it was all in his mind, he was fighting himself. I think this stems from my personality (the suconsious mind trying to tell me to chill out or somthing) Im interest in books that deal with the imagination; Alice in Wonderland, Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Peter Pan, like to read Carl Jung, about Alchemy, Horror etc. I’m a big fan of Alan Moore’s work, who I personally consider a genius, promethea is a must read if you are interested in the bizarre world of our imagination.

If anyone in this group would like to start a conversation that would be excellent, with living in the modern world, its not very often I get to talk to people about Lucid Dreaming, as most people consider me a crack pot (lol). People lose the real importance in life so its such a great feeling to see so many people here! I am gaining interest in Stephen La Berge, I read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming in June and found it an invaluable source of information and delight. I used to be at university studying A BA in film studies down in cornwall, now my life is boring as I have to work like the rest of us After I stopped smoking Pot, my dreaming has become more constant and I’m trying to stabilize my waking life to adopt Lucidity, it works on and off but to keep myself in a meditative state during the day is difficult, people look at you strange when i start looking up to the trees and watching traffic (lol) its all fun though. Hope to make new friends and talk about Lucid dreaming and stuff in the same vien.

      Stay Lucid!

Welcome to the Forums! It tends to be that people here are lazy about reading new folk's posts, espcially when they're long, but I read it anyway because I have lots of spare time. You should hang around, we need more people that know how to spell.

Yeah, as Kaniaz said - it took some effort to read your entire post. At least you can spell, unlike some other new ones
However, welcome, and its good to have some new people with ideas to contribute to the site
I see you've put a lot of reading and thought into dreaming and LDing already

Its really nice to get a response from people, thanks!!

From the look of this site, its really easy to pick up who you are talking too,
the image used to indicate a person is a great idea.

Its been ages since I have communicated to people who are interested in Lucid Dreaming.
Most of my human friends are not that interested, I can see them zoning out every time
I tell them one of my dreams (lol).

Being a member of the Lucid Dreaming group in Yahoo,
it was hard to build up a friendship and to have discussions without people feeling offended,
people used to feel intimidated by people who believed in OBE’s etc
(With people strongly against open mindedness I thought)
It was mainly a mainstream Christian ethos, so hopefully with this group
      people feel more relaxed.

Thanks for the compliment concerning the spelling,
its only polite to use good sentence structure when speaking to other people init?,
I think the internet and modern culture has destroyed the English language (not forgetting txt messages).

I love to explore the world of lucid dreams, its something that I would love to structure over the next few months,
without feeling (like most people do) that its impossible, I never seem to understand people who send in messages like “help me to Lucid Dream”
its something that someone should discover themselves, instead of taking the easy road out, its like asking someone to discover religion for them.

I like the idea in Waking Life that we are all born with a different set of colours (im English btw-lol),
its not the amount of crayons you have that is important, its all what you do with the colours that counts.

Im trying to get into them 3d "mystical realms" things at the moment,
you know them pictures you look at for about 5mn and it gives you an image,
im hopeless at it (lol) i thought it would contribute to my LD'ing.

I used to have loads of LD's (about 3 a week) but i started smoking the Wacky Backy (due to stress etc)
but now im off it again, its strange how im picking up more in my dreams (dream signs etc)
pot is a drug that totally makes you forget your dreaming, enough said!!!!!!
I was doing it for about 2 months and during that time my dream life was terrorable.

Tell me abit about yourselfs, it would be cool to find out

      Take it Easy!

      Hello there Mystical_Journey!

I read the majority of the post, but I have to leave soon so I didn't get to finish it. Anyway, I'm glad that you're here and I look forward to seeing you around! Maybe you can share some of your experience/knowledge with others, as that's what this community is all about. Thanks for coming!

A little bit about me, I'm 19, from the US and am in my second year of college. I'm still not all that great at LDing as it comes sporadically (recently had my 5th since July), but I'm fairly well versed with theory. I enjoy helping ppl so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm sure you've got the run-down from someone already, but just thought I'd put myself out there. Hope to hear from you later!

Thanks for the warm welcome, hope to hear some stories from other members such as Placebo, Kaniaz and yourself!

I have loads of lucid of dreams I could post but I’m not sure people would find them interesting (lol).

What are you studying at college? anything that you can put your dreaming into?

what is it you other guys do?

I just work as a data entry clerk at the moment, I’m working to save £ for a trip to Europe in the new year, somewhere like Prague I think

I guess I should write a story about myself somewhere
Perhaps at the top of my journal

      [EDIT]
Updated my journal with a short description of myself
