      Not making more progress

As you can probably tell, I'm pretty new to this. I've been dreamjournaling and doing RCs every day, as often as I can remember. I'm also doing RCs every time a certain thing happens (e.g. talking to friends at school) because I notice that this is a recurring theme in my dreams (dream sign?)

Anyway, I've gotten to the point where my recall is quite good. The only foreseeable next step for me is to become lucid. The problem is, I haven't made any progress since I improved my recall.

I NEVER know when I'm dreaming, no matter how obvious and absurd it is (fighting in a haunted house) and I've never done an RC in a dream.

Everything here seems to be about progress, but I just can't get over this bump. Anybody that's faced the same problem have any advice for me?

      Thanks,
      Jason

Usually, the more wacky the dream, the less likely you are to have a lucid dream. Counter-intuatively, the ones that you are more likely to recognize that you are dreaming in is the ones that seem most normal. This is because in the normal ones, your thinking more logically, ergo, more thinking about the situation.

As for progress, write RC on yor wrist in marker one day, and do a reality check every time that you see it. IT should pile up to hundreds or even thousands of reality checks, that will all-but assure that you do it in a dream.

dude you gotta have patience, these things dont happen over night. to become really good at lucid dreaming takes time, its like learning anything new, it could take months even years to master. try getting in the habit of doing more reality checks throughout the day. So dont give up and keep at it!

Just keep up the good effort with your RCs during the day. Make sure that you're doing a few of them in case one doesn't work during a dream; try to follow the advice here of really visualizing them telling you you're dreaming.

For DILDs you really want to work on increasing awareness of what's around you, what's going on, so that you remember to RC. A dreamsign like being around friends can be tedious for sure . Start small, keep a lookout for one thing and try to just be aware of when you see it (for example, if you're online a lot then smiley face ). Gradually become more aware, like when you see things that are blue just make a mental note of it, extreme emotions, animals, whatever. I recommend this. Doing it daily immensely helped my lookout and awareness of what was around me.
