So glad to find this board!

Hey all, n00b here. Well, new to this board, but not to lucid dreaming. I've been doing it for maybe 8 or 9 years now, but it's rather sporadic. It's always such an exhilarating experience. I've only had DILDs, even when I've tried WILD techniques. I've read all about the different techniques, but I always get distracted with other things and don't practice as much as I could. (I've already got drum practice, play rehearsals and video editing certifications to study for, so there's always something.)

Anyway, I've noticed that over the last six months or so, I've been having LD's with increasing frequency, and I want to get better at inducing them at will. I do keep a voice recorder by my bed so I can just mumble my dreams into it without much interruption and I've started a dream journal on my computer where I can search for specific tags later, to see which dream signs recur the most.

So I think this site will help keep me focused on improving my dream skills. It's neat having all this technology to help me along, but it will be neat to talk about this whole other world with other experienced dreamers. I think just having it more on my mind will increase my chances of success.

Isn't it funny when people think you're talking about something paranormal or new age-y when you try explaining LD's to them? It's nice to have a place to discuss them with others who understand what I'm saying.

      So that's why I'm here!

      After posting:
I've misspelled a word in the thread title. Great first impression. DOH!

Welcome welcome welcome Eh, don't worry about the typo. Happens to all of us. You can get a dreamguide to change it for you too, if you want. Cool to hear you're already pretty knowledgeable and have had some success! Putting in more effort should definitely pay off, if you're already in that position.

It is frustrating to try and talk to someone about lucid dreaming when they have no idea what it is. My attempts normally end with the person telling me about a dream they had as a kid and asking me to interpret it for them.

Hey RB! Some people are open to the idea and try to understand what you're talking about. Others just look at you like you're talking about out-of-body experiences or healing crystals or something... "yeah right". The worst is when you realize you're talking to someone in the latter category about halfway through explaining it to them. You were all excited to bring it up and talk about it, only to realize that they think you're a freak. Makes me want to give up and say "never mind".

When i tried to explain my friends what is WILD, for them it was the same as if i told them how to bring back someone to life.

Most of my friends waited to listen to me all the way through first and understood it wasn't some new age thing. However with most other people it did not go so well... Welcome by the way.

      Well welcome

Yes I'm sure most of us know how you feel. This is why I usually just keep the subject to myself. I did tell my girlfriend, my mom and my doctor and they all seems interested when I talk about it but I never wanted to tell anyone else because they might think I'm some kind of weird person.

      Hey corpsegroom! (Clever. Hehe.)

Yeah, whenever I bring up LDing, people usually nod codially, ask a few questions out of politeness to feign interest, and I'll pick up the hint and move on. So, I bring up LDing less and less. At least the people I talk to aren't demeaning about it, though!

I'm glad you found a forum that you feel that you can talk with about this kind of stuff.

I have trouble with WILDs, too. So I know what you mean.

I'll see you around the boards, I'm sure.

      Sincerely,
      Spockman

"Oh, you're talking about OBEs! Yeah, I used to leave my body all the time, now my psychic abilities kinda faded"
      "What the hell..."

Heh, thanks for all the anecdotes everybody. I'm already having a great time here. Nice not to have to explain everything for a change.

Exactly! I have noticed that the phrase "In your dreams" is popping up more and more in the people around me.

Okay, I'm going to turn that way, and hopefully when I turn back you won't be there...
Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.
