      Can't stabilize the dream!

      Hello
I tried lucid dreaming i think about two years ago and i heard about it from my friend, who had practised it, but didn't have the time anymore. I had three lucid dreams then and in every one of them i just realized that i was dreaming (no dream signs or RC-s). I think i became lucid because of my dream journal. But the actual problem is/was, that when i became lucid, i couldn'd concentrate and stabilize the dream. I think i just didn't know that i had to do it, but even so i started to do things to fast and i got too exited. How should i remind myself to stay calm in a dream?

Over-excitement is the number one killer of lucid dreams. Mentally affirm to yourself that you are to stay calm when you enter the lucid dream state. This helps me. As to how to stabilize the dream, what helps me is by paying attention to details. Try looking at objects and seeing as much detail in it as possible, try looking at your hands and seeing all the lines, and even try grabbing a hold of something. I've done all of the above and they've seemed to help tremendously. Hope this helps.

I agree with Jeff777, gently reinforce the command to stay calm by simple repetition. "Next time I am dreaming..."
Feel confident that your message has got through. Imprint the idea

I had trouble getting my first lucid dreams to stabilize too, but you seem to be on your way to having additional successful lucid dreams.
I play broccoli with checkers every night.

That has happened to me too. When I become lucid, I tend to pause and wonder what I should do, then the dream pauses and fades away...

When I realize I'm dreaming, I just brush it off passively like "ok cool, I'm dreaming, that's nice" and just continue what I was doing or just do something random that comes to my mind. I usually make plans of what I would do when I reach lucidity before I go to bed. I like to fly around when I become lucid.
