So was I Lucid Dreaming or not?

Hi guys, I'm a little new here so I guess I'll use this as my introduction thread too, I've been browsing the forums and tutorials and thought I would sign up. Its really fun and entertaining reading other peoples dreams and theory's .

Long story short, I had a few lucid dreams when I was a kid before I knew what it was and a couple of months ago a friend of mine told me what I had experienced so I researched it months ago. Since then about 3-4 times I though of the word 'Lucidity' and then woke up. Last week I decided to do more research and I found this website and it inspired me to keep a dream journal.

So just a little bit ago I think I had my first, real and exiting lucid dream (I think) that didn't end as soon as I realized it. However, I don't know if I was actually lucid or if that was the 'dream plot', like the dream was still in control. It seemed that some things like the outer exterior of my house seemed a little strange and even myself seemed a little strange too. My question was could I have been actually dreaming or could it just be a normal dream that was about Lucid dreaming because of all the intense research and reading I've been doing on it?

      Heres the Dream:
So I was waking up from a dream and I tried to DEILD (So I thought) and I could imagine my self feeling my bed with my hand and then i acually felt it in my mind like the dream was forming! Any ways I couldn't feel the bed anymore so i tried to do a RC and it worked! I pinched my nose and I could breath! So (without stabilizing the dream first, which leads me back to my question of if i was dreaming or not) I immediately threw my covers off and tried to fly and bust threw the roof of my house but instead of busting through I just hovered there at my roof. So instead I just walked out of my room. I remember everything being very vivid in my house and even when i stepped outside. I looked at the sky and there was one smallish cloud raining on me so I decided to shout "INCREASE CLARITY" to see what that would do. It stopped raining but the cloud stayed there.

I remember going to my house and looking at the detail in it so I walked around the house thinking how cool this is, then I did a few practice jumps to test how it felt and then I leaped on my house. After that I jumped to the road and tried to summon a dragon but it didn't work. So instead I asked the dream very nicely if I could have a dragon, because I read somewhere that its better letting the dream make the stuff up then trying to summon if your new to lucid dreaming. I seen something at the end of my road but now it was getting dark and I was a little afraid of going down there and then I woke up.

So I knew I was dreaming so I believe I was lucid but was I actually in control or was it just a 'dream plot' controlling me? Any help will be much appreciated.

Sorry for the wall of text above.

yes sounds like a lucid dream to me you couldn't be doing all those things like shouting "increase clarity", (trying to) summoning a dragon, if you were nonlucid. You might not have had 100% control over your own actions and abilities- that's dream control- and it's separate from gaining lucidity. You can increase dream control with time However the most important question is did it feel like you were actually "there", as opposed to waking up and just remembering it as some distant memory?

congratulations on your LD and hope you have many more!

      mmm
      let me see.

      what do you think?
do you think you were lucid?

the definition of lucid dream is "a dream in where one is aware that he is dreaming"

      were you aware?

you only have to know the definition, nobody can't say if you were lucid or not, just YOU.

      bye!

Thanks for the help guys I know I was lucid dreaming now but I couldn't control my flying or my ability to summon a dragon so I guess I need to work on dream control next time. Also I think I lost a little bit of Lucidity because I was afraid to go down my road when it was dark. Now my only question is whether I was actually awake when I DEILDed or if I dreamed that too.

Also it felt like I was 'there' because it felt like it actually happened when I woke up and I wasn't acting like a total idiot like in a normal dream. Plus when I woke up the dream was fresh in my mind like it just happened and I didn't have to wait for the memory to come back to me in sections or small segments, I remembered it all very fluidly and vividly. Overall, I believe that was an awesome first true Lucid dream Can't wait to have another!
