new to the site, assistance required.

hi, im new to the site and i was hoping that some of you veteran dreamers can help me understand my dreams and teach me the techniques needed to control them.

before you direct me to the tutorials, i must clarify that i have read a few but feel that some personal direction would be a bit more helpful.

ok well, i don't usually have lucid dreams, but whenever i do they are almost always ominous and tend to "foretell future events" if that makes sense.

one of my strangest dreaming experiences occurred back when i was seven.
i saw myself as a baby, i was in a dance studio with a hardwood floor and there was a woman dressed in all black beside me. i was crawling around when suddenly i tripped and my face hit the floor. immediately after that, my vision turned dark and i saw a small mint-green piece of paper, it had eyes on the top right corner and English writing between the lines in the middle. thats when i woke up. now i know that this doesn't seem all too strange, but what frightened me most about the dream was the fact that i did not know the strange language that was written on the card. in fact, i had no idea that the United States even existed at the time, for i lived in Armenia. a year later, my mom told me about America and said that we would be moving there soon.

now you may be thinking that im just drawing random links and jumping to conclusions but i have had other dreams that often induced daja vu, in fact most of the dreams ive ever had were either frightening or were some sorts of futuristic visions.

now, if someone actually read ALL of that. please tell me what you think, it would really help me understand all of this, and if you've ever experienced this please help me control it.

If you didn't know that strange language, then how do you know it was english? Do you know what it said?

I don't know what to say about your futuristic visions, or what exactly you mean by that,
but frightning dreams or nightmares aren't uncommon.

well now that i know English, i can remember resemblances between the things written on the card and the language, i dont remember what is said though. im mostly going with my gut here. i know that its possible that my mind is just filling in gaps, but im a bit skeptical.

ive also had dreams where i saw certain moments that actually happened later on in my life.

but anyway, these things are difficult to explain because i myself dont understand them. what im getting at is my dreams are strange, unsatisfying, and widely spread. i just want to have normal, frequent dreams. do any of you have any advice?

      Hi UMREE,

You might want to go to:

      <http://www.asdreams.org/index.htm>

which is the homepage for the International Association for the Study of Dreams, and when you get there, click on their PSIBER Dreaming Conference information. It's an online conference for people who experience PSI (the scientific community's term for psychic experiences) in dreams. The conference lasts two weeks, and I haven't read about this year's yet, but last year it cost $40.00, and you get to read two or three scientific papers each day, and then have discussions about them. It is a busy two weeks, I was online almost every waking moment. Lots of good stuff going on, including contests to test psychic abilities. I came in fourth on one contest last year. It's fun, and it's educational.

I do happen to believe in PSI dreams, as I have them frequently, so it's hard not to! Of course, I have no way of knowing how well you remember a dream from age seven, or if you are portraying it accurately, but it sounds interesting.

Knowledge is power. If you're afraid of these kinds of dreams, then definitely, go learn more about them! That is the best way to get rid of the fear. Trying to stop them really won't work if in fact they are really PSI. There are a lot of people out there claiming to have prophetic dreams who really are not, and who like attention or something, so you must understand if people are a bit skeptical. They like to hype it all and get crazy about it instead of having reasoned discussions. I don't understand them, but... they're good to avoid, I think.

Anyway, welcome to the boards. I've only been here a few days myself. My biological father's second wife is from an Armenian background, so I have half siblings who are of Armenian descent. Also my next door neighbor is of Armenian descent. Probably some favorite figure skaters too.

thanks for the link, i understand the skepticisms directed towards my dream, im not very sure of my memory myself, however i assure you that this has not been my last psychic dream. i would also like to point out that, no i do not have Münchhausen's lol and i am not just looking for attention. thank you for the link once again, ill be sure to look into that.
