Regarding your question as to whether lucid dreaming and astral projection are the same thing, - that really depends on who you ask and what their beliefs are on astral projection. I am really equally interested in both lucid dreaming and astral projection. Lucid dreaming seems more natural and easy for me so that's where I'd like to start. Anyway, as far as I read, the beggining training for both is basically the same. Developing dream recall, meditation etc. After that I think techniques become different so I guess I'll decide once I develop the basics.
My main goal is becoming more aware/alive during my sleep. IMHO, AP and LD are both good for this.

I read the "Could astral projection really be lucid dreaming?", in the Beyond Dreaming section, and I see your point. Could you also point me to an Astral Projection forum either here or in the PM please? I'd like to learn about both LD and AP at the sime time, while basically only practising for LD for now.

I googled some AP forums, but haven't found any site nearly as good as Dreamviews on that particular topic.
