Im not sure if I can lucid dream...

I have good dream recall (three a night) but it seems like my dreams are not vivid at all, and that I am not nearly enough aware to lucid dream.

Also, a few nights ago, I realized I was in a dream...

I was dreaming that I had taken DMT (Never taken it in real life, just heard about it) I was hearing a pulsating sound, some noises, somebody talking, and colorful geometric shapes. Then I was like "Hey! I never took any DMT, I must be dreaming" I woke up just RIGHT after I realized I said that, and it wasn't a fading thing, I literally woke up just after that.
It could have possibly been a false awakening, but I cant remember a false awakening. But I dont remember waking up either... Im afraid that this could happen every time I become aware im dreaming.
Also, my dad has been having lucid dreams form me just TELLING him about it. Lucky bastard right?

But seriously, my dreams are just really not vivid at all, and I feel like I am not even close to aware enough to become lucid.

Also: Those fucking dreams ABOUT lucid dreaming are becoming really common, like one every week. I have had a few were I ACTUALLY lucid dream IN THE DREAM.

keep a dream journal to increase recall, and start doing reality checks every day! im not sure but i think the dmt effect might of had something to do with you waking up right away

I do keep a journal, and my recall is great (3 or 2 a night)

But what do you mean by "The DMT effect may have an affect on you waking up right away" Because it was just like any other dream, I dont see why this one being like tripping on DMT has anything to do with it

I woke up immediately after realizing I was dreaming the first few times too. The fact the you had even that little bit of lucidity is a sign that you're on the right track if anything!

It took me about eleven months to have my first lucid dream, so, it definately is going to take time, but don't give up. Once you gain lucidity, things get more vivid. I used to have really crazy dreams that weren't vivid at all, but once I gained lucidity things got more realistic.
And about your dad, i've known someone who has been having lds since he was little almost every night, and he thought that everyone had them all the time. So there are always going to be people who get it easy, but anything worth wild is going to take time, so don't give up!

I've had a few non-vivid lucid dreams before so that proves it has nothing to do with vividness. Is your dad into lucid dreaming or at least support the idea? If so you can use his help by involving him into your waking regime...just ask him to tell you that you are dreaming on a regular basis. Then on your own initiative do a reality check.

Don't get discouraged Fuzzy. If you have the ability to dream, then you have the ability to lucid dream. It is very, very common to wake abruptly after realizing you are lucid. Especially on your first few lucids. Next time just try and remain calm as possible. The trick is to convince yourself that lucid dreaming/lucid activities are natural and routine. With this mindest, you won't wake yourself up during your lucids. Good Luck!
