Lucid dreaming is disapointing... or is it?

Recently I have been having what I call "lucid dreaming loops" Its when I have a lucid dream... In a non lucid dream. Those 'dream loops' arent actually lucid... that might seem impossible to some people... but I promise you they arent lucid.

Then last night I had a few dreams I remember. One of which I spontaneously told my friend "I am dreaming", but I didint believe it... I was just kind of saying it.

Later that night I had another dream... I dont remember how I realized I was dreaming but I do remember knowing I was dreaming, and staring around thinking "This is amazingly life-like" Then I started jumping... and I was trying to fly, but all I could do is jump in a floaty sort of way. Then I jumped in my pool, and I was trying to change the temperature of it (and that was working) After that, I tried to get one of my favorite bands, Weezer, to appear by closing my eyes, visualizing them, and then opening my eyes. When I opened my eyes, small little details of the scenery changed, but Weezer wasn't there. Sometime after that, I had a false awakening and immediately went to tell people about my dream

When I woke up, I thought "Goddamit, another one of those dream loops" But after thinking about it for a little while I started to remember me controlling the dream... and looking at the scenery and thinking "This is really life-like"

My memory of the dream is pretty hazy, but was this a lucid dream? Lucid dreaming seems kinda disappointing if that was it..., but I wouldent doubt if it was just me having crappy lucidity

      you were not lucid

when in a lucid dream your basically god limited by your own imagination.

Lucid dreams are initiated by something in the dream or during the dream that jump starts certain portions of the brain (motor skills, logic centers, personality) when you become lucid your basically half awake sort of a lighter sleep.

what happend to you it sounds like is you were having a dream about being lucid with out actually being lucid, pretty lame. the fact that you falsely woke up to tell everyone means it wasnt lucid.

When lucid you usually have the ability to wake youself up at will too.

      OR

You were lucid and didnt truely believe that you could control your enviornment, you were limited by what you know and have experianced in normal life. physics and laws that govorn you in the real world.

IF this is the case you need to try to let go of logic and try to use your imagination more.

i have a problem with the first theory

If I belive I can do something In a dream, lucid or not, I can do it. So even if I WAS lucid, it really dosent matter.

you misinterprited what i was saying,

there are no laws in dreams, sure, unless 1 of 2 things either your not lucid and the dream scinario has was appears to be physics or 2 your lucid in your dream but you sort of second guess yourself. it might take a bit of getting use to. ever seen the matrix? When neo first realizes he has his powers, its hard for him to jump from building to building becuase he was use to a set of laws. now if im in a world with anything possible all of a sudden, and I try to fly it might be hard for me to do, i will jump and maybe get higher than normal but not quite fly yet. becuase i still think its impossible.

now whenever i have had lucid dreams i was in full control i could change where i was at any time i wanted, i could make people bow to me or i could teleport from NY to Egypt and be a phero 2000 years ago with the simple thought.

however there are people that know a lot more about this than me so ill step back and let them assist you.

      Hello,

      I've a similar problem.

Sometimes I was lucid (or I think I was lucid) because I was thinking "this is a dream" and I really know because I seen ilogical things; in spite of it I can't take control, I just can change a few things, and sometimes I want to fly and I just can to levitate.
The old dreams were good dreams. They didn't work out, but I'm glad I had them.

You were lucid if you knew at that moment that you were dreaming. So it's a sure thing that you were lucid at the beginning of the dream, but you could lose lucidity later . If you remember the dream vaguely, then maybe you don't remember that you've lost it. Although it sounds like it was lucid all along, you were trying out various actions...

But why was it disappointing? What did you expect and in what way was the experience inferior to it?

If you are lucid you must be able to change the dream, why cant we do that?

I supuse FuzzyWuzzy is disapointed for this reason.

      (sorry for my poor english)

There are different levels of lucidity. You probably had a very low level lucid dream that slipped quickly back into a regular dream. Try to work on increasing your awareness when you do reality checks. Every time you think about lucid dreaming, try to really become aware of yourself, your surroundings, and how you got to where you are. As soon as you become lucid in your dreams, this should be the first thing you do.

I'm sure your dreams will get better as you get a little more practice. A good lucid dream is totally mind blowingly awesome.

Lol I didn't notice that in his description. Thanx for pointing out my blatant lack of attention.

And there's no reason to be sorry, there are a lot of non-native English speakers here.

      You're welcome.

I'm really worried for my english because I know that's bad. In fact, I just change my last sentence. I wrote "you must be change" and I think "you must be able to change" is more correct, hahaha.

Anyway, I'm glad because you've understood me. Thanks .

I totally understand you, cause I've experienced the same thing many times. In my opinion - you weren't lucid. You were just dreaming about lucidity, thinking of it, without the actual awareness! That sucks, so don't be dissapointed; LD are much more, they're AWESOME.

Btw, this is my first post...
I've had multiple lucid dreams since it started a couple of years ago, but they were all very short, so I'm here to learn some control methods.
