Probably where you say "I'M LUCID" but you are not actually aware you are dreaming - you're saying it like a "let's pretend this is a dream and I am lucid" type thing.

I had one of those recently...I remember even saying, "Wait a minute, I'm lucid!" but then the rest of the dream was as non-lucid as the beginning. Another time, I tried to turn my hair red, but it wouldn't do it.

To be honest I'm relatively new to the idea of lucid dreaming. I had heard of it before, but never thought it possible. I have gone lucid accidently before, without having to really concentrate, perform reality checks or anything like that, but even when that did happen I didn't have any control, it was merely awareness.

I have quite a good dream recall ability, now I'm working on enhancing that ability, keeping a record and seeing if I can induce lucidity. Then go on the control it....basically what I'm saying is up until now I never knew you could 'artifically' induce lucidity and will most likely take me many weeks to yield any kind of result, being new to this and all....

Sometimes I have dreams where I am lucid dreaming, I'll be dreaming in a dream. I've had two of these actually. I'll wake up from my lucid dream inside my dream(thinking its real life) then I wake up again and realize oh wait, I was lucid dreaming in my dream.

Hmmm this is weird... sometimes when i am lucid dreaming, I don't actually realise I am lucid dreaming.. I am just controlling reality.

This has been happening more and more recently.. like my dreams are becoming more like my reality.. just one that I can control as apposed to me being in a lucid dream.

Added to that I am having an increasing amount of trouble telling the differance between dreams and reality lol. Infact I was sure I had an account here before today because my friend had showed me the sight, cos he knows i am into this sorta thing, and I musta dreamt that i had an account here cos I sure as hell didn't...

An LD isn't determined by the amount of control you have, but rather by the fact that you know you're dreaming. You may know and the dream will go on despite that, but you are still lucid. If I understand this right, you simply have more contol of what's going on in your normal dreams, right? I will just say that that is cool and you're closer to being lucid than me.

Anyway, as I get older I find that my dreams mirror reality more and more so I can understand the confusion of separating the two worlds. It doesn't help me when I'm feeling deja vu in my dreams as well as IRL. If you have any other questions, feel free to post them in the appropriate forums for PM myself or someone else.

what i was saying is my dreams used to be more lucid.. and now I have the abilities that you usually get from realising your dreaming in normal dreams... there was a time when i often knew when i was dreaming.. i dont use the techniques or anything.. I just start dreaming, realise it.. and control it from there. Its just recently I have been dreaming, thinking it was real, and controling it as aposed to realising i was dreaming.

Do you know what this could be caused by? Losing My "Lucid" but keeping my Control?

I'm not sure. Maybe you're aware you're dreaming, but simply not acknowledging that in a recognizable way. It's just like with real life; we don't tell ourselves we're awake. We just know it. That's all I can think of right now.

Dreams are odd. Part of your brain goes to sleep when part of it doesn't. What this "fake lucid" seems to be is a dream about a lucid dream. That is, you dream that you are having a lucid dream, but you aren't aware that you are having another dream nested around it, so you might as well not be having that lucid dream in a regular dream at all becuase you still can't control it. It's similar to the situation of a false awakening in a false awakening in a false awakening in....

This discussion reminds me of the film Waking Life (i love that movie ) where the main character can't wake up from his dreams. He realizes he is dreaming and figures okay, I'll just wake up up now. So he wakes up and thinks everything is great but he's still dreaming, he just doesn't know it yet.. His dreams are like russian dolls, it's pretty weird.
