I've heard most illicit drugs and alcohol inhibit REM. So do sleeping pills. I don't think any food does, though. |
|
Any supplements/herbs/foods that are effective in increasing non-REM deep sleep (such as sleeping pills or some anti-depressants) will inhibit REM sleep (dreams) in every way. |

DILDs: A Lot
Eating too close to bed time can make it harder. As mentioned, drugs and alcohol. Marijuana is no good. I think bad sleep habits in general. Too much light before bed is harmful as Melatonin distribution in your body is controlled by light. If you eat dinner at 6 and you're going to bed at a good time (9:30-10:00) and you're calming yourself down before bed, without a a bunch of lights on, then you should be great. Of course I'm pretty sure most people don't do this, but I think it's all you need. |

If you want a big chance of having a lucid dream you should probably sleep longer, but if you want a WILD (wake induced lucid dream) you should sleep like 7 hours or less and then in the day or after 3 hours go to bed again its a better chance for a lucid dream I read. Some products may be good for the one and bad for the other so.. Oh and stress is a big decreaser in dream recall, when your stressed you cant focus to well on remembering your dreams (thats why grown ups dream less) |

Yes cafaine (coffe, redbull) will lower your chances of getting a lucid dream, and adranaline to you have to be calm and sleepy. A good time for a lucid dream is after taking a shower, because you feel relaxed and as your body dries again you feel relaxed and a bit sleepy. |

hey here is how I have vivid dreams. I find when I take my viatimin b6 pill that I take every night one hour before bed my dreams are more clear and make more sense (even though they usually don't make sense anyway) but my dreams do follow a more plot rather then jump around a lot. Alcohal definitly does mess with dreams and I can saftly say that because I got drunk last night and can barly remember my dream. Weed I find doesn't effect me unless I don't take my B6 pill. Being super tired messes up my chances of being lucid so if I cannot help it I'll wake up in the morning, chill for a bit and even have a coffee then go back to bed and easily become lucid. I saw that someone said caffine lowers your chance of becoming lucid which I do not agree with. I have gone lucid with coffee when I WILD many times this past month. Anyways good luck! |

Marijuana actually causes rem rebound, meaning if you get enough sleep you will have very vivid dreams in the time before you wake up. |
