      WILD problem

It's like this, last night I tried this technique and I couldn't fall asleep for one hour. Do I have to constantly think "I will lucid dream. I will move from waking to lucidity." ? Because when I constantly repeat it, it prevents me from sleeping. I just cannot fall asleep. When finally I stopped repeating it, I fell asleep and I didn't become lucid. But I wrote down two of my dreams. Somebody help. I just cannot fall asleep while repeating "I will lucid dream. I will move from waking to lucidity."

I'm not experienced at all with WILD; as I am unable to get one myself, so I can't help you really. Still, I'm gonna bump this topic - every question deserves answering.

Maybe the problem is just inexperience? I know I tried when I first started practicing lucid dreaming and wound up with the same problem of not being able to get to sleep while I was trying so hard to focus. After giving up on that one and tried simpler techniques for a while. When I tried WILD again for a couple nights I couldn't achieve a lucid dream, I did manage to fall asleep so... it has to be a step in the right direction, right?

Just relax. The harder I try, the less it works. Most of my Wilds have been WBTB's where I jsut never lost awareness.

      dont try so hard.

      dificulty

      WILDs are really dificult.

When i first started, i had already been having DILDs every month (i'm a natural lder). I wanted to be able to go from waking to lucidity. I found that it's not enough just to tell yourself to do it... you actually have to do it.

The key for me is to keep my thoughts passive and my consintration on something physical while my body is totally relaxed.

it sometimes takes a while, but another helper is to get about 5 or 6 hours of sleep before hand. With natural sleep cycles, the first 100 minute cycle is about 90 minutes Non-REM sleep (non vivid dream) and 10 minutes Rem. After about 6 hours of sleep (stay up for about an hour after the initial 6hours) you can have up to an hour of REM sleep with about 30 minutes of Non-REM sleep (or so i've heard).

It's just easier to go into an LD after that much sleep.

AFTERNOON NAPS ARE RECOMENDED HIGHLY FOR WILD!!!!!!!

Unpredictable maybe...but not difficult. The more you build yourself up to this "difficult task" the less likely it will work. I used to have them all the time in school before I knew what they were. But once I found out what they were and how "difficult" it is to do, It became harder for me.

They're quite easy to do when you relax and just let your mind drift a little.
