      Define False awakening

I've read in many places "do reality check when false awakening happens" but nowhere I found what exactly is a false awakening.

So what is it? you wake up in the dream? You wake up after dozing off in waking life??

Please define it. What actually happens, please describe. And also describe (if there are any) possible outcomes.

It really is just a false awakening. It appears to be that you are waking up, but you aren't really, It is still a dream.

And what you should do is, every morning, when you wake up, the first thing you should do is RC. Make a big habit of it so that when the time comes that you have a FA, you will do an RC out of habit.

Yep. One time I woke up, wrote down my dream. Then woke up for real, and it turned out I never wrote down my dream.

I've done that as well, it's annoying because I'd written down loads 'in the dream', but couldn't remember any from the dream before when I'd properly woken up

You dream that you've woken up, but you are in fact still dreaming.

Can 'wake up' in your bed, on the side of the road, in hell, on Jupiter, at the bottom of the ocean, wherever, as long as you think that you've actually woken up and are in RL. RCing the moment you wake can help you catch these. Especially look for things like unusual furniture arrangements, missing items, time-of-day not matching up, what your clock says, things of the sort.

Also, you can sometimes end up in chains of false awakening- you 'wake up', then you 'wake up' again, then you 'wake up' again, and then you finally stop the dreaming and wake up for real in your physical, real bed. Or, did you?
