      I Cannot realize I'm Dreaming

I've known about lucid dreaming for about 2-3 years. I'm still attempting to have one and it feels like im getting closer but yet it feels like my ability to is standing still. I have amazing dream recall, I can remember my dreams every night and I usually write my dreams down. But the thing that blows me away is I never have a logical mind to take notice of my dreamsigns.

Everyday I tell myself "i'll remember that im dreaming" or "ill know when i'm dreaming", but while in a dream im not realizing anything. I have so many dreamsigns its not even funny for instance, I don't really hang out with anyone from highschool anymore except for a few buddies. Its been two years since Highschool and I just don't clue when they're in my dream. I wear Glasses all the time so that should be a major dreamsign but I don't think of it.Another is I was Layed off my job so im on EI now, so im usually hanging out at home having fun there and in my dreams im always doing something fun, amazing, and far away from home.

I have a good memory but I don't understand why I don't pick up on these little things. I bought some Mugwort essential Oil and I haven't really noticed a difference with using that, And another weird thing is I have dreams about looking for mugwort or im buying some from a store and I don't even think of lucid dreaming, I just observe. So I decided to join this forums group to seek information and to get involved with other people with lucid experiences hoping that one day I can have a lucid dream.

Have you tried making reality checks a habit?

Have you ever, out of habit, performed a reality check in dream? (just curious)

sounds like a mental discipline problem, but that's just my opinion. I'm not one to talk either. I just had my first lucid dream last night, so I'm no expert.

What's your mindset usually like in dreams?

I seem to be calm in my dreams, for the most part, but lately in my dreams i feel a sadness as if i were looking for someone or something.

Another good reality check is to hold your nose and breathe in. (If you can still breathe in, you're dreaming.) Also, if you have a lot of free time and don't mind waking up at night you could try a WBTB (wake back to bed).

I know what ya mean. I have some extremely obvious dreamsigns yet I've only been able to muster 2 short semi lucids. I think we just need to keep up with our journal and get really familiar with our dreams. Plus keep up with the reality checks. Also, I've read that it takes a while for dilds/milds to happen often. Or perhaps you might want to try some other techniques? Anyway I'm no expert, but good luck!

Maybe you're dissatisfied with something in the Real? I know I have the worst dream recall ever when I'm bothered by something. Maybe the same is true with lucid dreaming realization?

Pfft, there's no one on earth who is happy 24/7. But if you're content with yourself, I think it's easier to induce a lucid dream. If you're particularly bothered by something, it might help your dreams to find a solution? O.o

Lately my dream interpretations i have read about, some say alot about my emotions, but I'm not sure how to understand my emotions when they arise. This could be a problem of mine that is drawing me away from becoming lucid.

Possibly, But again, I am by no means an expert. It's just my hypothesis. I know I have trouble with my recall, so it's just my thoughts. Who knows? maybe you're having another problem entirely?

I'm a noob at lucid dreaming...just found out about it a few days ago, even though I been lucid a couple times in the last few years...(but I didn't know I could do anything I wanted, I simply realized I was dreaming, and the couple times I remeber were during a nightmare...So all i could think about was waking myself up...)
I am going to try WILD tonight...have you tried that before?
      WILD tutorial here:

I have my first intentional lucid dream a couple nights ago(unfortunately I was thinking about a nightmare I had had before, and it was the same nightmare. I realized in the short nightmare that I was dreaming was too terrified to realize there was no danger..so I woke myself up.)
That night, I was thinking about my previous nightmare, and repeating that I would remember my dreams, I would realize I was dreaming and would become lucid. During the day I asked myself a bunch of times if I was dreaming or not, and looked at my digital watch every time to see if the numbers changed(which would mean I was dreaming).
That happened the day I learned about lucid dreams, so I was surprised to have one the first time...and my dream recall is ok..don't keep a dream journal though, but I should probably start one. I usually remember at least one dream a night....7-15 a week.

Sorry bout the long post..I've got a problem with making my posts long.

i think you should put more effort into your reality checks. really question your reality. just stop and really ask yoursef if its a dream and then pay attention to everything you see, hear, and feel. and then follow with a couple reality checks like plugging your nose, looking at your hands, and looking at clocks.

i noticed my lucids increased once i started doing this, before i would just plug my nose and try to breath but not really ask myself if i was dreaming and i would never have lucids, it would even result in me actually plugging my nose in dreams and trying to breath and being able to breath but not really sure what it meant and id just go on regular dreaming

A common plan is to decide when you'll RC. Example, everytime you walk through a door, do the following:

      1. Plug your nose and try to breathe
      2. Try to push your finger through your palm
      3. Look closely at your hands
      4. Glance at a clock/text, look away then look back

Do this EVERY time you walk through a doorway and eventually the habit will carry over to the dream world, and when you walk through a door you will RC and realize it is a dream.

Your problem is that when you're dreaming, you don't ask yourself if it's a dream, so the solution is to spend more time doing this while you're awake. Make sure that throughout the day, you're asking yourself this, and mentally checking your surroundings for any dream signs or unusual things. It's after doing this that you should be doing reality checks.

If you can keep up this attitude until it becomes your typical state of mind, it won't be long before you start adopting it in dreams as well.

I found out that talking more about Lucid dreams does help wow.
All day yesturday I kept RCing and even before bed. I woke up at about 3:36am and reached over and took a drink of my water and plugged my nose and tried to breathe asking myself if this is a dream.

Soon after I was asleep and im laying in my bed with my covers over my face, So i reach up with the covers on my hands and i plug my nose and was able to breathe ! So I thought I must be dreaming, Right as my awareness boosted I opened my eyes and I was awake. Im going to be RC all day everyday now thanks for the Help from everyone, Im Sure with more RC during the day I can catch myself in a dream instead of a False awakening.
