My Big Day - 1st lucid?

Hi, I've been visiting the forum for about a month but this is my 1st post! Wanted to see wot u guys thought of my dream. I've been keeping a dream journal and doing reality checks over the last month and my dream recall has improved tons. At bout 2pm today i decided to take a nap on the settee, in my dream i was awoken by a frog craoking on the floor which i thought was weird so i looked at my hands to see if they were normal but they were invisible. I suddenly shouted 'I'm dreaming' over and over again and got quite excited, i wanted to do stuff but i was stuck on the chair, couldnt get off This dream faded and i woke again, (as i woke each time i heard a whoshing sound in my head), i looked at my hands again and they were invisible again, this time i could get off the chair but couldnt leave the room, i shouted for my friend but he didnt appear but a cliff richard look alike did appear so i spoke to him. I wanted to go do some cool stuff but felt guilty about leavin this guy on his own, when he wasnt lookin i tried to spin to change my scenery but it didnt work so i just stayed and talked to him. didnt really think about doing anything else. Then i woke up obviously rather excited!!!!!

My confusion is how do u figure out if its a real lucid or a dream of a lucid dream??!!! It felt real enough and was a vry vivid dream but i wasnt in control much over myself, nevermind the things around me!
Any thoughts or advice would be apprecited

      Thanks

Wow, that's very cool! I've had one true lucid dream thusfar where I was able to change things the way I wanted them to be, and another where I was stuck...just knew it was a dream, but couldn't do anything. Did you read the info about spinning, and thinking of a location, and attempting to take control that way? I'm definitely going to have to work on spotting signs myself! I think you're off to a great start, thanks for sharing your experience.

If you knew you were dreaming, then it was a lucid dream! Congrats!

A lucid dream does not have to be vivid, in fact a lot of them are pretty brief and "fuzzy".

Congrats to both of you on your first posts! Glad to have you with us!

I agree with Seeker that it was a LD and I congratulate you! Naps are often good times to have LDs as a person usually sleeps fairly light (unless you're like me and naps take 1-2 hours). If you have any questions about control or just LDing in general, feel free to ask. I'm glad you've stuck around and decided to join the forum See ya 'round!

      hellllooooo and congrats.

Hello and welcome to the forums!
Sence you've been looking around for about a month you probably know about the aspects of the forum but if you need help don't hesitate to ask! I also agree that you had a lucid dream but your lucky yours lasted that long the longest lucid I've had was 5-10 seconds.

That descibes half of my lucids right there. Which is rather irratating.

Thanks for ur replies. I have been taking as much advice as i can fron the tutorials and forum over the last month and its obviously paid off!! I agree with the fact that naps during the day are a good way of triggering a lucid dream. I found at the time i took this nap i was very tired but also pretty cold coz i didnt have the fire on. Prehaps the fact that i was cold distracted me from fallin fully asleep (if that makes sense), i remember as i was drifting off i was very aware of being cold. Just a thought really!

      gratulations!

welcome to the forum, if youve been looking over our site for a month already and havnt jooined, what was keeping ya? do we scare ya?

anyway, yep, that was an LD, but probobly not too encouraging because you didnt really do anything exciting eh?

the same thing happened to me once, i was sitting on a chair (big soft couch thing) and couldnt get off. so i tried to absorb it, but then i turned into the chair ¬_¬. whats worse is that some big fat bastard came and sat down on me, an i mean this guy was HUGE. i woke up for fear of suffocation.

keep trying, im sure there is a dream control tutorial somewhere right? if not, its next on my 'to do' list.

at the risk of sounding cheesy, you have to know you can control your dream, not think it. dont think tentatively 'cani do so-and-so?' say 'i am going ot do so-and-so!' and be aggressive in what you want to do, with lots of shouting about what your intent is.

You'd have to take care with that, though. It'd be interesting to be shouting and suddenly find out that you are, in fact, awake. Unless you were laying on a couch or in a bed it'd be kind of hard to pass off the whole "I was dreaming" thing.
