Thread: i've always been able to LD i thought everyone could do it.

hey i'm mike, i'm new to the forums
since i was very young i have always been able to LD i thought it was 'normal' i learned to do this myself (honest) i have always been aware that i'm dreaming whilst asleep, i do not keep a dream log for i can memorise what happens in my dreams, my 1st LD was when i was about 5 i somehow turned it into a nightmare, this really scared me i didnt sleep properly for a year after this, it involved me sitting at a table with my family i didnt want to be there so i got up and started walking out when i started thinking about that thing from stark treck ( you know the guy who has a head that looks like a fanny, what are they called? clingons?) and he appeard before me and looked down on me snarling, this really scared me at the time lol.... i'm going to attempt to improve my ability to LD now i know techniques to help me get there btw i love this forum its so interesting (Y)

Hey stritch, welcome to Dream Views! You're one of the lucky few who naturally has lucid dreams. Some of us, myself included, "knew how" during childhood, and subsequently "lost" the ability, and have to re-learn it. In any case, welcome! I'd suggest checking out the tutorials section. It has informaiton that is valuable for anyone, from the know-nothing beginner to the experienced dreamer. See you around!

thanks, are you quite open with the fact that you can lucid dream or do you keep it secret? cuz thats the one thing i need to know, because this is the 1st time i've ever shared it with somebody

It sounds cool to be a natural Lucid Dreamer and i would think that it would be fine to tell a forum of people who practice lucid dreaming although if you tell others who have never heard of it they may not believe you or something. I probably wouldn't go around in RL telling everyone about lucid dreams cause I don't talk much.

Well, first, WELCOME! It's great that you are a natural LD, it will make it easier for you to improve that ability and dream control.

So, back to your question... I've personnally told a couple other people but no one has taken me seriously. However, it's important for me to tell other people because I want to find someone that Lucid dreams too. If you keep this to yourself and if all LDer keep it to themselves, then, how are we suppose to find eachother (in real life and not on a forum)? I suggest you not to say "Do you know about lucid dreams?" but to be like "I had a weird dream last night" and if they are interested in dreams they will probably share one of their dreams and then you ask them "were you ever conscious in a dream?"... And that's where I lose people. There like "no... It's impossible anyways" and since I'm a very stubborn person I say "Actually, it is, i've been conscious before!" and then I tell them about lucid dreams and how it was scientificly proven but all of that just makes me sound weird. I should stick to asking them if they were ever conscious and stopping there if they say its impossible 'cause then they just think your being curious, not some kind of weird crazy undercover witch wannabe... lol! XD

Well, you wouldn't sound as weird as us, unatural LDers, do because you wouldn't talk about dreamjournals and Reality checks. But they might think you're a lyer. They thought I was one when i said i had had three ones during same week.

I should stop talking about all the bad things they'll do, lol! Since I think you should at least ask them like your curious if they ever were conscious in a dream. (use the word conscious) and you should also say the truth if someone asks you if you ever were 'cause they probably do LDs too if they ask you. (or at least they are curious about it)

and yeah, its cool being here where being able to control your dreams is 'normal'.
