      Is this normal

      Recently I have had several what would be classed as lucid dreams, in that I am aware I am dreaming. Usually I wake up in my bed and sit up and when I look back I can still see myself sleeping. When I move around the room I seem to be able to float, almost like a spaceman on the moon. When I realise I'm dreaming I wake myself. I then find myself in another lucid dream in the same situation, in my bedroom in the dark. I don't seem to have control over my surroundings. I can't make things appear for example. I tried to look out the window at one point but when I pulled the curtain back the whole window was black. This usualy happens several times until I do eventually waken up properly. Is this a lucid dream and how do I go about having more control of them?

      I have had some odd situations myself that are very hard to catogorize.
      When you say ,"you wake up" when you realize you are dreaming , is this on purpose or it just happens when you realize you are lucid?
      This sounds like a false awakening. When you find yourself in another dream. But do to lack of control this may be considered a deep lucid. Don't quote me on this. I have had similar expirences and this was what I was told:
      In a deep lucid you are beyond the point of normal sleep. Deeper. But you manage to still become lucid. However because you are in such a deep sleep you tend to loose some of the Lucid control you might otherwise have.
      To go deeper is considered a near death experiance. This I am still trying to understand. There are a few posts about it if you use the search method. But none of the posts explain them to the depth that I would consider helpful. But it may help you.

      This may also be a completly wrong analysis too.

      What usually happens is I get quite scared when I realise I'm dreaming and I'm not sure how I do it, but I make a conscious decision to wake up. I then 'wake up' again, back in bed in the same position. My vision is usually quite blurred to begin with but clears as the dream goes on. Its only when I get up and 'float around' or do some other reality check, for example looking out the window that I realise I'm dreaming again. Last night this happened four times before I actually woke up properly. Even then I was quite confused and scared and it took me about half an hour to become convinced that I wasn't sleeping.

      sounds a bit more like an OBE than a LD, try looking into the literature for both.

      I justed realized you were new confoosd.
      WELCOME

      I know how false awakenings can be scary. But no one has never woken up. Maybe if you relax, you can gain better control each time you awake (or false awake). then you can enjoy each experiance. Along with more control you could then give yourself a command -I am going to awake NOW!

      Welcome to DV, confoosd!

      I agree with what Howetzer's telling you about how it's probably FAs. Is there any particular reason why you're afraid when you're lucid? The most important thing is just to relax. Once you've got your head on straight you can tell yourself to wake up, tell yourself to become more lucid, or even just try laying back in bed and seeing if you go back into a normal dream. There's nothing to be worried about.

      Yea if I am ever scared in my dreams, I can wake myself up. It works every time, it's awsome, what you do in your dream, is you close your eyes tight tight and squeeze your eye lids, then when you open you are awake.

      [size=18]Hello Kid-lucid

      confoosd might not have the confidence at this point that your approach will work. Which it will.
      that is why confoosd's awakenings become false. But realizing & believing you can wake up is the one step toward making it happen
