      haunted dreams

Hey, I'm having an interesting problem I've never had before. I have had lucid dreams to an extent before (realized I was dreaming and changed small details) before becoming familiar with this website, but now when I purposely try to change things something odd happens. For example last night I realized I was dreaming and simply wanted to turn on the light, but almost the second my consciousness changed I was confronted with an apparition for the lack of a better word, it had no features other than a human shape and was a writhing black color, that never touched or spoke to me, but that came continually closer at an alarming speed and so full of a feeling of dread that would not dissipate until I submitted. When it happened a second time, in the same dream, I was able to reach out and grasp the thing even though it was just smoke and tried to will it away but the thing electrified me or something. It is not only this dream either, this is just the most recent. The thing is not always the same, but it is always child like or at least child sized. Is this a problem others have had with lucid dreaming or should I be having my head shrunk?

      Hi twofoodogs,

      Interesting name you have there!

The great thing about lucid dreaming is it puts you in a position to interact with your subconcious mind. There could be something your subconcious is wanting you to know.

Next time something like this happens in a lucid dream, try to communicate with the apparition and ask it what it wants or what it is trying to tell you.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Thats a good idea, it never occured to me to try to talk to the creepy little thing. Thanks for the advice.

By the way the name came from the Christopher Moore book "Lamb", if you are into humor he is great to look into.
