      Cool Hello

Hey everyone, I'm Jakub & I've been frequenting this fantastic site for about 6 months now and I thought it was about time I joined. I've been trying to lucid dream on and off for a year now, but I would say that i've only really made a concerted effort in the last few months.

I have had one lucid dream (about 2 weeks ago) which was great! However at the moment my dream call is terrible (can only remember very fleeting details if at all) which is a surprise because only a week ago I was remembering at least 2-3 dreams per night with reasonable clarity

I know that I'm having some intense dreams however as soon as I wake up they're instantly erased. I guess my main goal is to consistently have a least 3-4 lucid dreams per week. I feel that it doesn't come so naturally to me so I've been working quite hard to maintain a dream journal and experimenting with LDS.

It can be frustrating at times because I feel like I'm putting in the work but not seeing much results. My friend at work said that perhaps i'm trying too hard? I dunno. I'm going to keep at it until I reach my goal.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks for reading!

      Cheers
      Jakub

      Welcome to the forum
Lucid dreaming takes a lot of practice, and your friend might be right. It should never be frustrating, as that only inhibits progress. Just relax. Still put in effort, but remember it will come when it comes.

      Happy dreaming

      Welcome to DV, Jakub.

I would suggest that you keep at what you are doing, even if you aren't getting results. Eventually, you will have more lucid dreams. Just takes time.

And as for the dream recall, I would suggest autosuggestion. Helps me out loads.

Thank you for the welcome carmine eternity

I have been trying autosuggestions for some time to no avail. I can actually feel that I've been having lots of dreams but it's almost as though my mind doesn't want me to remember them (like it's trying to seperate me from the dream-world)

I go into a very deep sleep and as soon as I wake up, snap back to reality. There's little crossover between waking life and dreams for me... maybe it's just a dry spell. I've been feeling a bit sick/run down in the last few days, that might have something to do with it

Greetings, ephemeral! (That's one of my favorite words) Glad you decided to join us!

As has been said, just relax and give yourself some time. Is there something that's causing you to become distracted when you wake up? I've been teaching recently and when I wake up my mind had a tendency to start thinking about classes and students and what not, so if there's something that'd stressing you or grabbing your attention, try to relax and tell yourself before going to bed that you're not going to worry about it until after you get out of bed. Being sick could definitely affect your recall as well as how well you sleep.

Just give yourself time and stay focused. You'll be remembering them soon enough and has been said before, if you stress out over it, you'll be hindering your own improvement. When you wake up, don't move. Just lay there for a little while and try to remember [b]something[/i], anything. Often, if you can remember one detail (a person, place, color, emotion, etc.) more will come back to you. And be sure you write them down. Taking time to write them shows that you find them important and you are more likely to remember things that are important to you.

Best of luck. I hope you continue to enjoy your time here!

Thanks for the advice Amethyst Star! I like the word to
It's strange because I was doing really well, having great recall and keeping a faithful DJ. However the recent lack of recall has made me a little unmotivated and so I haven't been writing much down. I'll see how I go tonight, hopefully I'll have something to write about. Heh, that hug emoticon is cute...
      Cheers
      Jake
