      Well it depends. Your post isn't really specific but in some cases, as long as you keep your mind off the fact that your swallowing, you'll be fine. Same with minor itches.

      Yeah. Sure if the urge to swallow becomes unbearable (I find that it doesn't really go away unlike the itches that your body sends) then you'll focus on that too much which would hold you back.

      Just don't think about it, swallow, and continue. Try and prop your pillow(s) up so that your head is facing slightly downwards.
