New guy! What happened trying to sleep last night?!

yo whats up guys? I know a little about lucid dreams, never had one..so I'm pretty new to all this...looking for an explanation on what might have happened when I tried to go to sleep the other night.

I'll try my best to explain - I went to bed...fell totally asleep..then woke up in a dreamy state where it felt like I was rolling over in my bed. I started spinning faster and faster..and all of the sudden..BAM! and in a split second I was floating in space with nothing around except the stars. I then realized that I was dreaming...and said to myself.."I want to go to earth"..and i turn around and there it was. Then i started floating extremely fast towards earth and right as I was about to hit the atmosphere...I woke up.

From the time I went to bed, from the time I woke from this..about 45 minutes had passed. This was awesome! It was the closest I've ever been to having a lucid dream...any advise on how to control this would be great too.

      Thanks!

It sounds like your increased awareness caused you to get a little confused. This happens a lot when you lucid dream. You can get false awakenings, weird hallucinations, and body distortions. When you dream, anything is possible. You can dream about being awake, dream about being surrounded by emptiness, or even dream about being bodiless. Things can quickly get wonderfully disorienting.

As you get used to the weird altered state of consciousness, your dreams should become more stable.

That sounds like a fun lucid dream

Thanks Butler, this helps a lot. It was a pretty fun dream!..I looked around and it sounds to me like I woke up in the middle of the process used to go into a WILD. I've had soo many dreams where I'm talking to my friends about dreaming, and try to prove to them that we are dreaming..and I still don't become lucid! I've never kept a dream journal so maybe trying to WILD would be my best chance at having lucid dreams? I'm still new to all these different techniques..
